Anyone has experience with a Dachshund/Pug mix?

My wife and I recently adopted a little 12 week old cutie. See her in action below… Anyone has experience with raising this mix breed? What can we expect? How big did your pup grow up to? Her mommie was a Dachshund and daddy a Pug.

wow thats a strange blend. Would it be a Dug or a Pacshund?

Some people over here in the States call it a “Daug”…

She’s a cutie.

Treat her as any other dog when it comes to training. Don’t spoil her because of her cuteness - this happens a lot and leads to unhappy, insecure dogs. As she is a mix of two breeds prone to some serious medical conditions, you may want to look up the lists of symptoms so you can start to look out for them.

Dachshunds I know can have back and ear problems, amongst others, and pugs almost always have breathing difficulties, as the muzzle isn’t bred out but instead bred to be further inside the head. Pugs also tend to have eye problems, due to the pressure on them.

Do a search for purebred diseases and you will get a long list of likely ailments. If you know what to keep an eye out for, you should be able to stay on top of many of them. Also ask a good vet or breed expert on preventive measures you can take.

Hopefully, your little cutie will be one of the lucky ones who doesn’t fall ill to the diseases that were bred into her along with the physical disabilities that define her breeds.

Very happy that you adopted her. Clearly she must be in good hands.

Yeah she’s adorable! Good advice from stray dog, a trained dog makes for a happy dog and happy guardians. She should be 7-11kgs
