I just moved to Beitou from the U.S. a couple of weeks ago and am wondering now what I’ll do about street noise leaking into my vocal recordings. I do quite a bit of recording/composing and I’ve always done it in some room in the house. This house is smaller and I’m curious how I’ll handle the ubiquitous background noise. Scooters and trucks coming down our little alley are now just a couple of meters from our ground floor windows. It’s loud enough to stop conversation, so trying to get a clean vocal take is going to be a REAL challenge.
Is anyone else recording vocals in Taipei/Beitou, wherever? If so, do you have any tricks for doing it at home? Any suggestions for alternatives, such as studios, other spaces, options of any sort? My studio is my laptop and an external sound card, so I’m totally mobile–even with a mic stand and a mic, I could easily carry it on the bus. All I need is a quiet space in which to get the vocals down on the tracks.
Thanks in advance for your help!
