I saw incredible pics from across Ireland , that is just unheard of in recent history. Jealous as hell.
If this is the apocalypse bring it on!

Those pics aren’t even photoshopped, friends took this one from their balcony.

The question is, will we get anything this far south?

Highly doubtful , even in Ireland at 53 deg N, which is actually at a very northern latitude, it’s extremely rare to see the phenomenon like this.
What latitude is South Florida ?

Ok Florida is 26 deg N
Taiwan is 23 deg N

An outside chance at best.

Still you would have to find a place with relatively little light pollution.

I think key west is same as Taipei.

The point with these flares is that it’s much more visible much farther south than normal. But we’re so far south. I remember an April fools joke a few years back that was “the northern lights will be visible in Taipei” and that was an instant eye roll for most people. But the past 48 hours are supposed to be an exception to the usual.

I’ll be keeping an eye out from my balcony, have a great open view of the sky here.

Would be amazing if we got a show somewhere in Taiwan! If anyone sees something, or a social media post seeing something, do share! So far haven’t noticed anything all day today or elyesterday, and was working outside all day. Not even a sunburn. Just comfortable clouds and light rain.

For those that may not know the site. Seems a good thread to put this link.

:cold_sweat: I just checked that link, very cool, but it sad Cat G4, which is the 2nd highest level,

Then I refreshed the page and it was and still is at G5, Extreme!

I just checked Aurora - 30 Minute Forecast | NOAA / NWS Space Weather Prediction Center

and it doesn’t even look like Japan will be getting any. So sad!

It was apparently visible in parts of LA County, but the marine layer was out in force in my neck of the woods. Even without the marine layer, there’s so much ambient light at night I doubt we would see much if anything

It is solar storm time, maybe also the reason some discussions get more heated as usual, I noticed it is always like that, people more depressed or irritated and aggressive.

There’s a thread for that!

Dulan is pretty hot and the sea salt does block ones body from being able to exchange gasses properly. Checks out :victory_hand:

*showers 4x daily there

Well I have seen reports that forecast northern lights might be visible in Florida.

If I see northern lights in Taipei 's sky I’m gonna flip. Like plop. :face_with_crossed_out_eyes:
