Hmmm well, he probably does want to make money. But some of us believe he has other reasons for making movies like "The Passion" and "Apocalypto".
Considering his membership in a fundamental Catholic sect that blames Jews for the death of Jesus (the Catholic church does not (anymore)), it is understandable, although inexcusable, for him to portray Jews in the movie as ugly monsters.
Then what does that have to do with this movie Apocalypto ? Painting a picture of the indigenous Americans as blood thirsty people with a disgusting culture of ripping out hearts, etc ...provides an excuse for the far greater bloodshed caused by the arrival of the Portuguese and the Spanish --- thus exonerating Catholicism.
