Applying for parent's household registration

Hello
I have been going around in circles and I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I see posts here that are similar to my situation but slightly different in key areas.

I am trying to get my late father’s household registration at the time of my birth to find out if I am eligible for dual citizenship. He was born and raised in Taiwan but moved away before I was born.

For the purpose of the application, I need to establish that he is my father and all I have is his DOB, town of birth, my birth certificate and my parents’ marriage license. One document uses his English name, the other uses his Chinese name.

Does anyone have experience obtaining a parent’s household registration record with such little information? And does anyone have advice re: how I might obtain his birth certificate with no family ties in Taiwan?

I am very appreciative of any tips or advice. Thank you.

I’m in a similar situation.

American born Taiwanese, living in the TECO SF area and going through the Taiwan residency process. Hit a snag when getting my parent’s marriage certificate authenticated. My parents moved to the US over 50 years ago and TECO SF wanted to see Taiwanese identity of both parents. They married in the US and I don’t think they registered their marriage in Taiwan.

My dad has a old Taiwan passport (which they accepted a photocopy of), but my mom doesn’t have one (or TW ID card) anymore. I told TECO that, and they said in that case I need to provide her 戶籍謄本 both Chinese and English versions.

It’s harder for her to travel because of her age but she still has brothers in Taiwan. Is this something that they can apply for, and send over to me (or maybe take a photo and send that)?

I asked TECO about Power of Attorney needed for them to get the 戶籍謄本 but it seems like my mom may need to provide a Taiwanese ID for that, which is a bit of a chicken and egg situation.

Or is no POA necessary if my mom and her brother were in the same “household”?

Has anyone faced something similar?
