APRC After Gold Card - What are the rules?

3 weeks from Gold Card to APRC back in 2021 for me. Latest experience i have seen shared was someone applied for APRC on 6/31 and it was ready to pickup on 8/2.

Yeah I used that - the itemized tax certificate from 2022, which I collected in late June or so (the tax office clerk said in May when I filed that she’d need this long to go through the stuff).

I didn’t realize immigration would keep the original actually. Now I need to go back to the tax office to get another (for my records and credit card applications). :man_shrugging:

Mhh, I guess it’s time that I ask them when I can have mine. Also filed in May (online), but haven’t heard back yet…

I think it should be fine by now. You could also e-mail them to ask. (I did specifically ask in May when the earliest would be that I could collect the itemized one.)

Yeah, but I already know I’ll have to go to the tax office again and they’ll probably ask for more documents again.

And then there’s this issue (the filing software incorrectly prorated my overseas income and allowances based on the the days I stayed in Taiwan…):

So I am not really that ā€œmotivatedā€ to take care of that thing now…

Just wanted to add my experience here as this and the other Gold Card thread have been helpful and I am not sure anyone has personally/directly confirmed that this process works yet. I know it’s probably been discussed on Facebook but that’s a private group so here it is in a public forum. I received my 3-year GC in 2020, applied for the ARC job seeking extension or whatever it’s called a month before my GC expired, and then applied for an APRC a couple days after my original GC expiration date. My status is now in the 製證中 stage (ā€œproducing card/documentā€) so I expect to be notified to pick it up next week. Took about 5 weeks from applying.

One more note, I was never notified, I just checked over the weekend and the status was changed in the system to 領證 (collect card), when I went yesterday it was there. So keep an eye on this site, which is mostly in Chinese and they gave me instructions only in Chinese when I applied.

You’ll have to use what’s called ā€œreceive no.ā€ here, which you’ll find on the receipt they give you when you apply. Your ARC number won’t work, I guess they don’t consider that an ā€œID number.ā€

I just received my APRC as well via gold card. Took exactly 1 month from the date I submitted my application. After I picked it up, they said I still need to apply for an open work permit if I would like to work. I thought they recently updated the rules to no longer require one for those with permanent residency.

Hey all. I’m currently on a job seeking visa after finishing my 3 years on the gold card and am looking to apply for the APRC. I swear I saw in a thread somewhere on here that you can check with an office/hotline/chat if you are currently eligible to apply for the aprc? I talked to the wonderful gold card chatline today and they said their department doesn’t have the capability. Does anyone know? I just want to make sure my dates and everything are fine before I go through all the hastle. Thanks!

Go to the nearest National Immigration Agency

Yea, I just haven’t had the best track record dealing with the local ones down here in the South when it comes to anything gold card related.

Yeah, I wish there was a definitive answer on this

I got the open work permit as well. It was only 100nt so a small price to pay for a peace of mind.

There is as far as I’m concerned - the last part of Article 7 of the Act for the Recruitment and Employment of Foreign Professionals reads pretty definitively to me:

A foreign professional, foreign special professional, or foreign senior professional, their spouse, child under the age of majority, and child over the age of majority who is unable to live independently due to physical or mental disability, having obtained permanent residency, need not apply to the Ministry of Labor or Ministry of Education for a permit to engage in work in the State.

Was this in Taipei or somewhere else? It’s possible they were just unfamiliar with the rules for gold card holders and used to saying that.

Yes, it’s definitely possible. Not going to stress too much about this as I already now have the owp.

The open work permit is so stupid. I’ve got it and it’s basically a final fee to pay. The APRC should cover it, but someone’s job might be eliminated if they used common sense in government.

I collected my APRC today too. It had been ready since last weekend and mine also took pretty much exactly one month.

The next stop was Mega Bank to try and withdraw the 6k from the ATM, only to be rejected because I hadn’t yet updated my NHI card with the shitty new ARC number lol.

Congrats! Were you also told to apply separately for the open work permit?

I’m assuming you got a new number with the APRC because you hadn’t converted your previous ID to the new format?

Btw, I’m eligible for the APRC as well, but not sure if I should apply for it… I know it would make me eligible for the 6k NTD, but not sure if the Gold Card tax benefits would still be available. I mean I’m not making enough to avail the benefit yet, but I hope to maybe a couple of years later…

This has been discussed before but no definitive answer yet

Could you still apply for the 6k rebate with a freshly issued card now?
