APRC agent

I can apply for an APRC soon, but looking for an agent to help me. Does anybody have a recommendation for a solid agent?

And does anybody know if i need to be in taiwan during the process?

i don’t think it’s possible to have an “agent” for this - at some point, you need to go for a face-to-face interview. The initial application is incredibly straightforward anyway: you literally just fill in a one-page form (in English if you wish). Anything else that they need will either be handled by your employer or other government agencies. IIRC you have to apply independently for a criminal-record search, but again that’s just filling in a simple form. So there isn’t really anything that an agent can do for you that you can’t (or must) do yourself.

Yeah, I don’t think you really need an agent tbh.

I think that depends on the immigration office (and applicant?) these days. I didn’t need one last year. Maybe it was different for you back in the day? :grandpa:

Well, it wasn’t actually an interview. I was a bit nervous about it because on a bad day I could pass for a Libyan terrorist, but as it turned out, I just had to demonstrate that I was a real person. IIRC they spent about 30 seconds asking a couple of random questions and that was it. Perhaps somebody subsequently realised that this is a bit pointless, since you still have to have present a photo and (eventually) pick up your newly-minted card.

I was actually surprised at how slick the process was. Very little wasted effort - complete contrast to the usual bureaucracy in other countries, where you have to fill out reams of paper in triplicate for no apparent reason.

I may not be in taiwan during that time, so an agent would help speed up the process or make sure i can finish the process as soon as possible

Do you know how long the hospital health check is valid for?

No idea, sorry. I didn’t need one. Probably someone else knows.

Why not go online and get the list of requirements fir the APRC? I did it some years ago and a health check was not required. Don’t waste your money on an “agent”. You still have to collect and then show up at the office.
