April 27: South African Freedom Day

To all Saffa’s and Saffaphiles. Remember South African Freedom day is coming up. Saw ANZAC day on the forum and thought I would give us a mention too…

To those who don’t know:
April 27, 1994 was the date of the first non-racial general election in South Africa where the folks stood for 100’s of metres in some places to vote. Most for the first time. As a result the day has since been commemorated as a South African National Public holiday.

Nice to remember something good for a change.

Where will I be? Having a beer on Madiba (Nelson Mandela) and F.W. De Klerk. The two blokes who together made what everyone thought was an impossible leap together.
Good on you two lads! Long life! Cheers!!
