ARC renewal, when can i do it?

Hello,

Sorry for my poor english, i did some research but didn’t find the answer to my question :

my ARC (Foreign spouse) is expiring in 5 months, i plan to travel just before it expires so i want to renew it asap.
when can i renew it? 1, 2 months before it expires? or can i do it right now?

I think it has to be done within 30 days of expiration.

I’ve done it earlier than that. just bring proof of airline ticket.
i told the desk person I would be overseas, and she didn’t even ask for proof. so, it’s quite loose.
