Are countries finally going to start pushing back against China?

They could have pull what China did, want to have our commodities and invest into our country? must do some kind of joint venture with a local company so their local industry can learn. Instead, they are happy waiting for foreign investment money and projects skimming from the top.

Unless you mean like really past then yeah you were right before.

It is really interestig that chinas oppression and cancer like control tactics are the only thing in recent history that has made black africa and arab africa get along haha. What a fucked up planet.

We are all still monkeys. Better sticks, but primitiv logic.

As well as legal barriers to entry (preventing foreign investors from retaining control over their assets) there’s the general attitude that foreigners are stupid and deserve to be relieved of their cash; so when foreigners do bring investment and know-how into the country, they just get nickel-and-dimed to death via an assortment of scams (official and unofficial) until they eventually leave with their tails between their legs. No doubt it’s similar in Africa.

Chinese companies tend to do much better under these circumstances because they treat their employees like dirt (for some bizarre reason, treating employees like human beings encourages them to steal and loaf around) and hand out bribes liberally to government officials. The average third-world politician craves respect - he wants to be told what a wonderful, clever person he is while he robs his country blind. Chinese businessmen have no problem with this if it gets the job done. Westerners tend to approach such people with a mixture of fear and disgust, which gets them nowhere.

The “non-aligned” movement - which in practice meant alignment with powerful rogue states - has been an absolute disaster for all concerned. No country can stand alone; you have to make alliances with someone to really thrive. While it’s understandable that developing countries would be wary of the US (considering their various stupid CIA interventions), going cap-in-hand to China was not a good move.

Pushback and ranking of sentiment towards China policies:

Interesting that Germany views China more negatively than the US in this poll

…also more organizing around Boycott of China’s Olympic Games next year

“Stop slandering China, stop interfering in China’s internal affairs, and stop harming China’s interests,”

Give me a break, FFS.

“ The group, made up of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and the US, called on China to respect human rights in Xinjiang”

The G7 should have added this:

But hey don’t worry … even if you dont( as you’ve demonstrated for the past 20 years), we’ll keep buying from you, recognizing you, allow your spies to come in and work in our countries, and not give a fuck about Taiwan publicly.

This was in a non-Taiwan related American group:

China has toned down the air incursions ever since. It’s working.

One event not happening temporarily doesn’t really count does it. Over the next 20 years, do you think G7 can achieve anything it aims to, in China? Human rights? Democratic values? I don’t think so. The Chinese know how to push their buttons.

Absolutely.

China just keeps pushing until you push back.

“ US officials said Italy and Germany were uneasy with potential communique language that China might view as provocative. Stressing “balance,” German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that “China is our rival in many questions but also our partner in many aspects.”

No different than pre-WW 2 where the world refused to do anything about nazi atrocities till it became too inconvenient.

20 years from now, when China has taken over many territories to its east, the world will wonder what was the point of appeasing them.

Unfortunately for NATO, China is way way stronger and way smarter.

They are retaliating to the G7 summit.

Well they don’t care really do they. The imaginary line doesn’t apply to them since they island cannot enforce it. Simple

it takes time to prepare for retaliation against China’s actions (4 million dead, Genocide, Hong Kong oppression, etc.) . a knee-jerk reaction at this moment would be a mistake - it would lead to the west being caught with their pants down (well…even more than the virus did) immediately losing access to critical supplies and production.

So for now, countries seek “balanced” language while they sort out their supply chains and move their chess pieces into position.

Once supply chains are sorted and pieces are in position, the language will change very quickly from “balanced” to “we will hunt down the CCP without mercy” – give it a couple years.

So you have shown polls are useless

I cant imagine a country in europe that enables the CCP oppression more than germany.

Ok, a more important country in europe*

And to think, all those anti nazi laws for nothing. Pitty.
