Are mainland China girls better than Taiwan girls?

Your life is sadly lacking if you do not know who Winston Wu is. He is the guy who was put on this earth so that every other guy can say ā€œdamn, I am so glad I’m not himā€.

The thread topic is an exercise in sweeping generalisations. You can hardly be offended if you get replies in the same vein.
Sorry to rock your boat, but some of these Chinese ladies I’ve talked to own their own import/export business. And others got an MBA degree in California, before returning to China. How do you explain that?
Furthermore, most of them said they prefer to live in China rather than the USA or Taiwan. How do you explain that?
It sounds like the data doesn’t fit into your stereotypes and prejudices. So what now? Will you guys employ cognitive dissonance? Or be more logical and objective about this?
Have you met them? I know a Nigerian bloke who’s 29, blonde and with legs up to here, who has millions in the bank that he, erm, she would be happy to share with me once we’re married.

Depends on the social context. You can’t say ALL poor people are salt-of-the-earth types while ALL rich people are assholes. You can’t even say ā€œmostā€. The problem in China is this: during the cultural revolution, virtually nobody escaped what is sometimes referred to as ā€œmoral inversionā€: the complete destruction of established social values and their wholesale replacement with immoral ones. What happened during those times doesn’t bear thinking about, but it was only one generation ago. Not only do those ā€œvaluesā€ live on (in the people who are still alive, and their children), but the scene was set for further debasement of Chinese culture. The majority of Chinese today (about 80%) are still dirt-poor, in real terms. Those who became rich generally did so by dubious means. Sure, there are probably tens of millions of decent people in China. There are probably a similar number with massive personality problems, mental illnesses, etc., and personally I wouldn’t like to take the chance.

Passion for truth, indeed.

Better… than Taiwan?? no… NOOOOOOOOO

In China, women looking for a marriage partner with an overseas passport as a prime requirement usually does it in order to be able to go live overseas.
It sure seems like it. I’ve corresponded with women in mainland China and they seem a LOT more sincere, serious, straightforward and authentic, like girls were in the 1970’s. They have not been corrupted with narcissism like Taiwan and the US have.

I used this free dating site called DateinAsia. Any of you use it too? I’ve met a lot of high quality women from China through it. But the Taiwanese women rarely ever write me back, and if they do, they are only polite and write bland things. They never offer to meet me or show personal interest.

But the girls in China write me everyday and show high interest. The difference is astounding. I used to think girls were the same in China and Taiwan. But now I know they are clearly not. Can anyone explain why they are different?

Any of you who have been to China want to comment?

By, the way, I’m a Chinese American, which is considered a hot item in China, much more than it is in Taiwan. So maybe that’s a factor too.

Also, when I was in college, I noticed that students from mainland China seemed more relaxed and easygoing than the ones from Taiwan or Hong Kong.

However, the Chinese have a reputation for being repressed, cold and cliquish. So how do you explain that?

Any insights or experiences?
I was hoping you could offer some insight into my situation. See, I want most of the things you want (the wholesomeness, sincerity and authenticity) but since I’m a woman, and a straight one at that, I want these qualities in a guy. So my question to you is, which country has the best stock to offer in the men department? Are Canadians better than Americans? Between Ozzies and South Africans, who’s more sincere? If I had a choice between setting up an online dating account in Brazil vs. Argentina, which should I choose?
Now my cousin spent a couple of years in Japan and he says that he might marry a Japanese girl cause if he did, he’d never have to clean a dirty dish or do a dirty diaper. What I’m wondering is if there’s a male equivalent of Japanese women. Could a man like this be found in, say, Greenland or Iceland? Since I’ve got my college degree and all and I’ve always been pretty decent at making money, I’m not so much concerned with income as I am with the man being family-oriented and good at cunninglingus.
Please let me know if you have any advice.
Thanks.

 I like you, NonTocareLeTete.

Depends what part of Canada or USA, I mean, I feel people in other parts of Canada are better than where I live.

I prefer Taiwanese women—period, hands down–over chinese woman ANY day. Living in a city with a large chinese and taiwanese population, I, for one thing, do not like the Nothern chinese accent so much, but it is fine in Guangdong even if they speak mandarin. Taiwanese mandarin sounds THE BEST, and I find all my interests in music, girls, and just about anything point towards Taiwanese than mainland China.

Yeah…just my preference, like how my asian friend prefers Romanian guys over any other kind of guy—and loves romanian music and so on.

Yeah  Taiwan girls look different tooooo they are so ā€œjian shueeeeeā€

Taiwan girls - FTW !!

Hell ya
No I didn’t date in the 1970’s. It’s just common knowledge that women back then were more natural, sincere and wholesome.

I don’t know who Winston Wu is. What does that person have to do with my question?

It sounds like a lot of you are speaking from stereotypes here rather than actual experience. That’s very prejudiced of you.

Studies show that poor people are more caring and compassionate and nicer to others. Just because someone isn’t spoiled by narcissism and materialism doesn’t mean that they must have an ulterior motive. See this new study reported by Yahoo News about poor people having better values.

So what’s the conclusion now?
Somehow I am still trying to figure out if you are serious because you really have no clue or if you are just trolling
If you are not trolling trust the people in this forum. You apparently came here to get an answer to your question and you got several very qualified answers. If you don’t like those answers thats fine but people here know what they are talking about.

Look for countries which rank highly on the gender equation list, the men there have been taught to take care of babies, and well, in at least one scandinavian country, they even touched upon how to be a cunning linguist in school sex education - or they did that in the late 1980’s.

I have a good friend who lives in the Hollywood hills. Owns a lovely home, drives a Lexus, owns a thriving business and produces and writes for TV when he isn’t at the office. Handsome, fit, a good dresser, 32 years old, is likely very good at cunnilingus (I’m not a woman so I’m not sure, but I’m guessing he is. He reads a lot, studies stuff). Very down to earn, modest, funny. He can’t find a woman in Hollywood who isn’t plastic, a drug addict, a nutter, or all of the above.

Maybe you should move to Hollywood  .

The feeling is mutual, Indi.
But why oh why has no one answered my sincere question?

Actually, I’ve got a boyfriend who I’m pretty thrilled with at the moment. But I do have to say I had a brief stint in socal before I came here and maaaaaaaan was I ever popular there. And that’s what one of the guys told me there- ā€˜you’re so different. All the other girls are so fake!’ So ya know, some day I might go back.

I think Chinese girls are much more obedient, subservient, and happy in their roles as ā€œwifeā€. Or even if not exactly obedient, they are more willing to have a distant relationship where each partner goes their separate ways while they individually work or their goals, occasionally meeting to make a baby or two (only if you have party connections). If, however, you want a partner in life that you see as an equal with whom you can have open communication while forging a life together, I think Taiwanese girls are the way to go (though that ā€œopen communicationā€ is still a struggle). Sure, in countries where women have more freedoms to define their lives as they wish outside of prescribed roles, you will see some bad and plastic choices. You will also have, though, some impressive humans that do not rely on cajoling a man to get what they want. If by a 70’s woman, the OP meant more domesticated and docile, go to China. And if by 70’s woman he meant more sexually liberated but still reliant on men, go to China. For that matter, if you want to experience society in terms of gender roles, social norms or structure of 40 years ago… go to China.

Who’s Winston?

wrong. chinese girls are way more hardcore than taiwanese girls, way less submissive.

Doesnt that really depend on the time in the relationship? :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah… who is he… I looked him up on google but all I got was a wall-o-text personal webpage I couldn’t be f*cked reading. Summary please.

I got the last name on another thread, and I found this: happierabroad.com/WinstonWu.htm
There I found this little tidbit.

Possessing a natural aptitude in strategy, logic, and an above average IQ (approx 120), Wu is brilliant in debate and logical arguments, as well as board games. He can beat computers in Chess and Scrabble up to high levels, which most people cannot. In Chess, he can beat the computer up to level 4 or 5, whereas most people cannot even beat level 1.
