I wouldn’t say more submissive, but more traditional. They do expect you as the man to lead when dating.
I would say most women do in reality, but in some countries the recent culture has convinced women this is a negative thing.

The women in my family are very dominant. My mom was the primary breadwinner in my family.
So in my case, they are not submissive at all.
girls are pragmatic. it’s been known that tables turn when you marry a woman, for better or for worse.
So if I marry a man, will the table not turn as much?
Taiwanese women pretend to be easy going. If it seems too good to be true it probably is.
Probably depends on the personality of the lucky bloke. I suppose that’s something you’d want to assess while he’s trying to woo you.
Are you high maintenance?
Is that a rhetorical question
Clearly some posters have not been paying attention to women’s boxing at the Olympics.
Someone on the site formerly known as twitter quipped that Taiwanese women’s success there will be no surprise to anyone who has dated Taiwanese women!
Guy
Stop dating my wife, damn it!
This. THIS RIGHT HERE.
Imagine thinking agreeableness is a Taiwanese woman-only thing. Or that submissiveness can be a good description of someone letting you choose what meal you wanna get on a date.
A lot of people just don’t know what they want until they see it, or even at all. That’s not a Taiwanese thing. That’s just a thing people do.
Essentializations like these are so embarassing.
I think you just won the internet. 🛜
There was a Forumosan who posted here about Taiwanese girls pretending to be sweet, kind, demure to get a husband. Once married, some of them become bitchy.

Women my age are definitely not submissive at all (I am in my 40s). Heck, my mother isn’t submissive and she’s old.
Now compared to Western women…it’s hard to say. I personally find that some white girls can be really brash or even loud, and most Taiwanese girls aren’t like that. But if you really piss a Taiwanese girl off, she will have no problem telling you to hit the road. At least this is my observation with my generation. I imagine the younger generation of girls will be even more assertive.
My version, office version
What do you want to eat for lunch?
Office girl(s): I do not know, you choose.
Me: Ok, Thai
O: You said a few days ago, why do kept saying that?
Me: Only second time I said that.
O: You say it all the time
Me: So, then what do you want…
and it keeps going… till I choose a place she wants (really)
a bit different from Japan: will be submissive or give a suggestion , less : I do not know
Well they dont know what they want and they want the man to choose thats a bit of a difference.
Just a generalization though, my ex wasnt like that though she was fine to choose a place and she had a sense of direction aswell.
I think its also related to eating out so often in Taiwan, not a problem i would face back home.

Japan eats out more too, but still girls tend say what they want to eat, but may be submissive to others though in married households the man is submissive. (its a nation where the wife gets the husbands pay check and controls ALL the money, gives home small allowance for after work pub though)
Less likely to say no as well (caution: this does not mean they agree with you).
Yes1 Yes2 Yes3 Yes4 Yes
Falls then Rises.
When I say that, my meaning is that I’m not picky, and would be accomodating of any meal the other would enjoy.
