Arrival - Purchase Taiwanese SIM in USA?

Hello all,

My mom will [hopefully] be traveling to Taiwan towards the end of August.

Is there a decent way to get her a SIM for quarantine while she’s in the US to be able to skip the line at the airport?

I suppose I could snail mail one to her and hope that it gets there in time.

Thanks!

The line at airport is incredibly fast. About 8-10 stalls of CHT workers all ready to fill out paperwork for you, insert SIM card, test it on the phone, take your money, and then hand you off to the next person/worker who will help.
They have it down to a very efficient SOP.

Not sure if the SIM needs to be registered to her passport / ID number. I could imagine there could be some issues if it’s registered to you.

Sounds good, that’s what I’ll probably recommend then – do they accept credit cards? Is there an ATM available / money exchange available?

Thanks for the help

That, I cannot remember. Paid in NT$, as had it on hand.
Hard to imagine that there are no portable credit-card readers there.
Make sure your mom’s credit card is “opened” up to international purchases. Some stupid credit card firms will “deny” a charge overseas if not notified first (others, they don’t care).

Make sure her phone is not locked by her carrier.
