[ASK] [URGENT] Sending adopted Pet from Taiwan to Indonesia?

Hi all,

so here’s the story… i adopted a dachshund dog last year when he’s still 3 months old… now he’s 1 year already… but i got a problem…

I might be leaving Taiwan for good to search for another job opportunity at another country, and i would like to send him back to my home country in Indonesia… I hav a friend who knows how to ‘deal’ with the quarrantine in airport, etc… but some of my problems is:

  1. what kind of airlines provide services to transport dog within Asia region?
  2. how to make a birth certificate for an adopted dog? bcoz when i adopted him, the previous owner didn’t give me anything…
  3. other than rabies certificate, what kind of other documents i need to travelling the dogs outside Taiwan?

Thank you very much…

I used Malaysian Airlines to ship my two cats to Malaysia.

You don’t need a birth certificate. When you go to the vet he will prepare a booklet with vaccination records. Just tell him about how old the dog is and he will record it.

Neither of my cats had any records beforehand.

As for what you need, check the Indonesian government. These things vary.

Here’s a link. Seems every area of Indonesia has different rules:

EVA airways is pretty good with shipping animals. Go to their taipei office if you can and get full info on what exactly to do.

Thats what i did when i shipped my two cats to the USA with them back in 99.

thx very much for the kind reply, and sorry for taking a long time to reply back, bcoz i just got my internet back :frowning:

do i need to make a call to eva/ malaysia airlines to book a ticket for my dog? can i just book it via website like we always do whenever we travel?

Shipping an animal is a very very complex matter. I would go to EVA office and ask for specifics. YOu have to do EXACTLY as required.

For example in my case (in 99 so things may have changed).

EVA gave us a short list of Vets in Taipei authorized to give the required injections. Some of the injections, like for rabies must be given 30 days before travel and not more then 60 days .

They will know the requirements that indonesian govt has regarding dogs from Taiwan. These have to be met.

IN our case, we were told what the US govt will want. And we met with the vet in TAipei, did the shots, waited the required time (and not over) and also had to bring the cats to Keelung to meet with the TW govt vet in charge of such matters. HE inspected the documents we presented and did his own quick check. Then he stamped the docs.

ON the actual day of travel. The cats were individually put into a cage (that met standards) with water bottles each.

A TW customs officer took my cats at the check in counter. He personally brought them to the aircraft.

At the US side, US customs officers went to the EVA jet and brought the cats out from a special holding area in the plane (inaccessible during flight) and brought them to me in the terminal.

All standards and requirements have to be met. IF they are not, the animals will be KILLED. As they will not be able to enter their new country and can not be sent back to their former country.

Also the jet carrying them should not stop at any third country. This will cause problems in many cases.

It is a very serious matter transporting pets internationally. Please seek pro help. EVA were extremely helpful. I suggest contacting them and using them to transport your dog to INDONESIA. EVA flies nonstop to Jakarta, or BAli, or Surabaya.

thank you very much for your reply, so far bcoz of working load, i haven’t been able to contact EVA air :frowning: 1 more question if i may… do i hav to travel wit the dog? or i just need to send him via cargo, and my family in jakarta can pick him up?

was it only available in Taipei? i mean how bout south area?

thanks

I understand facilities are available in Kaohsiung as well. And you do have to travel with your pet, is my understanding. It may be possible to contact an air cargo company to do this but it would be VERY expensive FAIK.
