Attempted youth suicides grew from 4,389 to 14,547 last year, better mental health needed?

Quite sad news, I wonder if they can fix this, the numbers are quite bad considering there is less youth now than before. Rates are quite high in Taiwan.

As a parent of a teen, and dealing with schools for decades here, I can attest to the lack of skill Taiwan has with mental health, bullying and drug addiction.

I will say the teacher quality has improved. A lot! But by improve, understand the word improve. It used to be completely obedience styled dog shit. Now, it has been less dog shit, but is still absolute shit.

I speak of regular school, not rich private styled schools.

Sorry. Edited typos, was with my mother in law and had to have a talk.

Wonder if they track/have statistics like location, family history, family income, number of siblings, school, activities, etc. to nail down as least some common indicators.

Some attempt at limiting phones and social media would help. Taiwanese are on their phones 24/7 and people dont seem to think there is anything wrong with it. Super bad for teens.

I happen to agree with the teens in this article. Clearly, we need stronger government regulation on social media/misinformation/AI. It’s a threat to societies and not just teens. Alas, maybe we adults just need to listen and respect the opinions of the youth. Encouraging critical thinking skills in Taiwan’s educational system is a great way to do this. Is this happening? At my school, it seems we only get the marketing spin (toxic positivity) on the greatness of AI.
