Australia playing soccer against Taiwan

To all soccer fans, of whatever nationality

Australia plays Chinese Taipei in Australia on February 7th with the return game being staged at the ChungShan Stadium on February 14th. These games are part of the qualifying stages for the BeiJing Olympics in 2008.

Don’t have anymore details for the moment other than to mention that a party after the game is hopefully being organised with the Australian Team being present, more details once known will be advised.

do you think any of the epl lads will turn up?

me thinks not somehow…could be a right tonking for our lads (the taiwanese i mean)

There is no chance of EPL players playing in this game. They would not be released for such an unimportant game (in football terms), and only three players over 23 may be selected to represent their country in Olympic football. They should still win easily enough though. No doubt this will be another bloody weekday afternoon game.

6 pm at the stadium…aussie won 11-0 in the first leg…i saw the taiwan team training yesterday at bailingqiao…god they looked small…

urging all non-aussie’s to turn up and support our local lads…it might kick off on the terraces; i hear the brass monkey massif is sending a coach load of assorted aussie riffraff…

how can we get tickets?

tickets??? it’s free mate…hell you’ll prolly get a t-shirt for turning up (did last time)…

Can Taiwan use their archery equipment or use taekwondo? That’s the only way they’ll win. Still though, I’d like to catch that one on TV.

what time is kick off at zhongshan?

6pm

ta tyc00n.

may well go there before the wife finishes work… for some reason she was not so keen when i mentioned the first leg score to her! PM if you want to meet first.

Australia 1 Chinese Taipei 0

A good match, at least 10 players down with real or imagined injuries. Most of the possession in the local half and many chances missed by Australia. At the same time a much better performance by the local team compared to their previous encounter (11-0?)

The very loud ‘ozzy ozzy oi oi oi’ yelling woman was Mrs Llama

I understand the clock at the stadium has been repaired after it was broken for more than 5 years. Is that true?

don’t think so…but maybe i’ve given up on it so didnt notice…

hell of a lot of stretcher action in the match…towards the end the taiwanese lads were falling in every tackle and being carried off…

still at least they didn’t do a china (http://english.cri.cn/3126/2007/02/10/264@194839.htm)…no argy-bargy to report…

I see, anyway a friend passed there today and said it was at 12’30 and his watch showed 12’28, might simply be that the cleaning woman touched the hands of it or someone just tied to make it a straigt line. Sent that bloke back to check it out. After the Korean desaster I decided not to go down there again to feel ashame but anyway, how did the pitch look, FIFA worthy?

nah…on the far side of the field the squares of turf are starting to seperate from each other creating unevenness…bailing bridge ground is still a better surface…

I see, so suggest then they put the next Circus touring Taiwan on that side so it evens out!
