Back Seat Moderating

Will you lot stop insulting me? There’s never a moderator around when you need one.

I also received a PM calling me a drama-queen.

I would like all of you to refer to the rules, and abide by them scrupulously. I’m also going to ask the admin people to provide me with my own moderator as an escort to protect me from this kind of victimisation. I demand that you are all nice to me!

OK, so he’s just wrong. And a dick. And I accidentally signed out of flob and noticed has some fat hamster thing as his avatar. Is he trying to rebrand himself as a kid’s teacher? But he tries to help people, and he contributes his lengthy though fairly deranged thoughts, sincerely, and answers Qs on TEIT, which the majority of the clean of keyboard don’t really do, so we should celebrate him.

People mostly PM things simply because it would be unacceptable to say them in front of others, not because they contain private info.

To be fair, the mods don’t always know that the posters are friends IRL. I have been temped and on occasion warned by mods and admin for over-zealous tongue-in-cheek insults aimed at some of my good friends. I merely explained the situation to the mod or admin concerned and it was settled amicably. Just simple misunderstandings. Best to be nice and clear rather than confrontational. I don’t envy the mods. It’s a thankless task and really badly paid. Kinda like being a football referee.
EDIT: I’ve always had kind words and thanks from everyone I’ve helped via PM. I suppose there weren’t that many, though.

Fat is an insult. Even ‘thing’ is a bit iffy.

FYI, that’s Rhino. He’s a hero.

Not in my world.
‘You’re fat!’
‘Yes. Well spotted. Nothing wrong with your eyes.’

It’s only an insult if it is both not true, and perceived as a negative trait by the insultee.

Now ‘Skinny and blond with one buttock larger than the other’ is an insult.

Re … OOPS!

Which reminds me, how’s the campaign demanding the right to bear children coming along?

I gave that up. Do you know what childbearing does to the human body? I want to live forever and remain physically perfect too.

Wait.

Are you teasing me? It’s happening again.

Help, help! I’m being repressed.

I gave that up. Do you know what childbearing does to the human body?
I have some idea.
I want to live forever and remain physically perfect too.
Something’s not right there. Dictionary!

Can we have a definitive ruling on this “retard” thingy? Or a board vote?
And why can’t the mod in question step forward? Accountability and all that.

A hamster? I thought it was some kind of furry toothed testicle, which I took as some kind of a remembrance of things past. Or passed, depending on his culinary adventurism.

I’m the mod in question, and I temped the post because it started out with a personal insult, which is against the rules. Plain and simple.

And yet someone today can call me a “birther” urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=birther in an IP post and the powers-that-be think that is perfectly acceptable to call another person. :unamused:

No one called you anything today. Mucha Man said he doubted that Rousseau’s post would shut up Canada’s version of Birthers. Is that you? No? Then it’s not a personal attack, because it’s NOT ABOUT YOU. Or at least, it doesn’t have to be.

That and intentionally misreading a previous post is distorting wouldn’t you say? Nobody else in that post got nasty before his post…Why does he need to?

In fairness Chewy, he had his angry hat on the other day with Tomas as well.

Aren’t there medications that can help this or at least it under control? I mean, every post on that thread before his ridiculous comments was about the incident (the Sun article mentioned the Kennedy angle) and was done in a pretty level-headed manner…he made it personal by deliberately misreading my post and putting in the “birther crap” and the mods had no problem with it…interesting.

Hilarious.

hey but look on the bright side…at least we all know what “birther” means now… :sunglasses:
