I’ve never been there, but I can guarantee one thing is missing from their depictions: the parking lot full of tour buses and 10 million people, jabbering loudly, coming at me with cameras clicking, pinching my daughter, and going “hao kuai, hao kuai, hao kuai. . .” I don’t believe there’s a quiet, peaceful oasis anywhere in Taiwan that can be reached by road.
