Interesting question. I don’t know either. On the other hand, the BBC got through the whole article without once calling Taiwan a “territory” or an “island”, or including their boilerplate paragraph about China’s opinions. So that’s progress from the last time I read anything of theirs on Taiwan, which admittedly was like five years ago.

But to answer your question, the reporter is stationed in Taiwan.
I’m currently based in Taiwan after receiving a nine month competitive scholarship to study Mandarin at National Taiwan Normal University. I will continue my freelance work although I will primarily be focused on Chinese for several months.
