[quote]CNN offers news from around the world that …
(A) You can actually listen and, not have to drink buckets of coffee to maintain conscieness.
(B) Every last broadcaster doesn’t just change by name he or, she actually sounds different.

None of which have anything at all to do with news. This is the attitude that has turned solid news reporting into sensationalistic shit like FOX and personality-driven biased coverage like CNN.
LAS VEGAS (AP) A tiger attacked magician Roy Horn of the duo “Siegfried & Roy’” during a Friday night performance at The Mirage hotel-casino, authorities said.
Roy was attacked at the throat, said Clark County Fire spokesman Bob Leinbach. He was taken to University Medical Center; Leinbach did not know his condition.
OK, that is news that need not be sexed up.
But what about the bulk of the news?
BALI, Indonesia (AP) Faced with mounting security fears and economic competition, Southeast Asian leaders at a summit in Indonesia hope to wrestle their loose diplomatic grouping, ASEAN, into a single market with closer defense ties.
The 10-country Association of Southeast Asian Nations has always prided itself on its flexible, laissez-faire institutional ties. But critics often call it a “talk shop’” with few concrete achievements.
Well, that’s just too dry, right? Maybe throw in a joke or two, eh? Maybe read the report in an affected voice?
The recent self-promotion blitz by CNN on their own staff is disgusting. The message is that you can trust CNN since their people are seasoned professionals. All news agencies have seasoned professionals, but not all of them promote the newsreader over the news.
CNN is also very selective as to what it covers and how. I have been following the Iraq debacle very closely every day and it is flagrant the way that CNN sanitizes its coverage. I also find it pathetic that it is just now starting to “discover” the deceptive practices of the Bush administration when the evidence was out there six months ago. It is a testament to their creative skills to see how they are slowly taking credit for coming to a story tragically late.
CNN also likes to have experts appear for about two questions and then move on to the latest football scores. The BBC, on the other hand, will actually let a guest speak long enough to flesh out his views. I have seen guests on BBC go on for like 10 minutes. This is unheard of at CNN: no one could possibly have anything relevant to say for that long, and if they did, it would probably be off the CNN policy rails.
CNN is a shill for the US; FOX is the Bush administration’s private mouthpiece. BBC is the best if you want the news without the clowns, bells, whistles, and blatant bias.
“Rah el sani’, ija el ussta”
One of the popular sayings repeatedly heard in Baghdad, describing the relations between the US and Saddam’s regime – “Gone is the apprentice, in comes the master.”
