Bean Bags

I’m endeavouring to make my den more relaxing - the answer is bean bags. Is that one word or two? I’ve looked around ikea, hola, b&q and the like but haven’t found any. Has anyone seen any bean bags around and know of where to buy a couple?

Good luck. Beanbags (one word, I think) seems to be one of those things it’s just impossible to find in Taiwan. The question has come up pon the forum twice beofre and noone found an answer.

I’d love to know too.

Brian

Yahoo TW auctions usually had some for sale for 1200. But don’t ask me for dimensions…etc. Good luck. I was just back in the states and picked up a pair.

We didnt have problems with the ‘bags’ per se as you can do a google and get a pattern from the Net… its the BEANS that are the problem!!!

I am currently in the process of finding the beans. I have found one source and looking for others. If you wanna know how I make out, let me know.

I would be keen to learn of how yr hunting goes for beans! I am staring at a huge bag of them right now wondering whether I shoudl bother shipping them back to TW or not.

why not use rice? theres plenty of it here in bulk. i would worry about it getting all mouldy inside :idunno:

I’ve called the place and they have the beans. All different sizes. But it’s out in panchiao. I’ll be visiting them after chinese new year. No idea on the cost, but i figure it should be cheaper than shipping from the states.

Howdy Amos,
Go To Wen Chang St, near Taipei 101. Xin Yi Rd sec 4. Its a famous street that has shit loads of furniture shops.
I bought a designer beanbag for $10,000NT, but there are cheaper ones there. Some really great and intersting stuff if you’re tired of Ikea!!!
Cheers,
Dazz

Good News & Bad News. Do call ahead as they run out of these things.
bao-li-long 保力龍 (styrofoam beans/beads)
lan-gu-tou 懶骨頭 (beanbags)

Good News. They sell the little styrofoam beans. More like beads from the size of them. They cost $600NT for a 3kg bag. For a decent sized beanbag I’d estimate you’d need about 1.5kg of these styrofoam beads. I’m buying one of those BIG bags. I have 2 beanbags I brought back from the states (I left behind the styro beads). Beanbags $20 + ~$10 (beads) = $30US beanbag. Doh! But cheaper than the $1200NT from the YahooTW listings and the beanbags I bought have a back. I’ll put up a pic once they’re done. (I guess my chairs are smaller than normal. Only used half (1.5kg) of the beads for both of beanbag chairs.)

Bad News. It’s pretty far. If you have a car, it’s much easier.

Driving directions from ShiDa: Heping East Rd. to Heping West Rd. and drive west all the way to the end. You should pass LungShan (lung_shan) Temple MRT on the way to HuaChiang Bridge. When you get near the bridge (see the signs), get on the left lane else I have no idea where you’re going to end up. Over the bridge you’re now on WenHua Rd. Keep heading south (southwest really) on Wenhua. You should pass Jianziciu MRT (blue line) and then Xinpu. You might miss the Xinpu MRT, but you won’t miss MinSheng Rd. It’ll be the big overpass intersection. After that, you’ll his HanSheng W. Rd. Just past that will be MinQuan Rd. Turn right onto MinQuan heading west (northwest really). MinQuan will become ChungCheng (ZhongZheng) Rd. Keep going. #379 Lane will be on the left. Turn left onto Lane #379. Then take the immediate left fork onto #1 Alley. It’s right as you turn onto the left fork. Small shop.

Bus directions: Get to the Xinpu MRT station (blue line). Exit #5 or #1. Stay on the west side of WenHua Rd. Take Bus #310 heading south. It will drop you off just before Lane #379. See the driving directions above for reference to the #310 bus’s traveling route. Once you’re on ChungCheng (ZhongZheng) Rd., you’ll pass a pedestrian overpass at Lane 275. The busstop will be at ShinSheng (XinSheng) St. There will be a Kymco shop on the left across the street from the bus stop. Go around the corner from the Kymco shop and you’re pretty much there. Estimated bus travelling time from Xinpu MRT, about 20-30min depending on traffic.

Hope this helps! Any questions, let me know.

Pics of the chair filled.

Is the situation any better for beanbags/floor cushions these days? Our settee is really hard!

Hola has 'em.

Thanks Jaboney.

Sure thing.
Recommend getting extra stuffing. Ours is pretty flat.
