I think I get your point, but you you clarify your thoughts on the bold point?
They definitely do have some home grown beggars. Go to Chungshiou / Xinsheng/Dunhus area. There are some that kneel barefoot and bang their heads up and down. They usually have severe mental health issues. Itās very different though as they really need to beg. Some of the aunties bring them food too. It makes me dislike foreign beg packers even more , as most of the Taiwanese beggars Iāve seen are in a bad way not opportunists.
I used to encounter quite a lot of beggars in Taichung, often came up to me to ask for money. Hasnāt really happened in Kaohsiung. Thereās a lot of homeless that seem to be living in Tainan city park, last week one cheerful lady with reindeer horns stuck on her head came over and I threw her 50 ntd, broke my own rule lol. She went off with a big smile on her face. They arenāt starving they get free food from convenience stores and charities, they need money to service their addictions.
