Does anyone know if there is any store which sells 煎餅 in Taipei? It was my favourite breakfast back in Beijing and I miss it. Most important part is the crunchy one.
can you describe it further in terms of ingredients, preparation, appearance?
Beijing style small eats are not easy to find in Taipei. I don’t think many Beijingers accompanied the KMT to this island in 1949 . . .
The one time I’ve heard Beijing snacks referenced is in relation to the traditional market at the northwest corner of Xinyi and Jinshan South Road (closest MRT access: Dongmen Station on the Red or Orange Lines). I ventured to try some snacks there once, but didn’t find it compelling enough to return . . . I guess those guys are getting quite old now too. ![]()

For basic northern Chinese breakfast fare, how about Fu Hang up on the second floor of Huashan Market (steps from Shandao Temple MRT Station on the Blue Line)? For me, anyways, that’s pretty much become the gold standard in Taipei.

Is it something that would be sold from a cart? There’s one selling mainland-style bing of various types on Shipai Road near Veterans General.
photo?
Running the title of this thread through a simple google search yields a surprising number of hits. Here’s one:
阿源煎餅
Taipei City, Zhongshan District, 31 Siping St
Never been there, so I don’t have a personal take. But it seems these goods are out there . . .
Guy
Huh, never noticed it. I usually never get past the tomato noodles place there I guess. Will check it out
Based on the photos on the google map site, those guys are not shy with their use of oil . . . ![]()

Yes, it’s this kind.
Seems to be different.
I found this on google which looks quite good:

Lettuce and peanut butter?
Is that a thing with bing in Beijing?

Found one in Kaohsiung.
look google maps for 東北大餅,several franchises that sell this.
You can find it in Taipei, i have seen a fair few on google maps. Although i just got back here so i haven’t tried them yet. Stick the chinese word for jian bing guo zi into google maps and knock yourself out. Although i would be kind of surprised if they are the real deal here as i never really see that crispy bean curd thing in Taiwan.
I am always surprised that more business minded Taiwanese don’t try to flog more mainland foods here. I mean taking the food from the mainland worked out pretty good for the wai sheng ren, there’s so much good stuff out there.
That franchise specialises in the thick almost foccacia like 餅, among other things, but I didn’t see them doing the thinner 煎餅 when I went.
They have a thin one, more like a huge tortilla or flat bread that they fold up and cut.
They also have a nice sesame bagel which i like.
This stand near Guanghua has them
