Belgian Kitchen in Sanxia

Well, from the san-ing interchange you take Fuxin Rd. (fushin, fuhsin)
toward Sanxia, follow and cross the bridge (over the river), next you follow direction Tucheng (Hengshi), about 100-200 meters past the triangle roundabout (traffic circle, triangle) there is a pedestrian bridge and a school on your right hand side. That’s Tatung rd. Turn right. About 75-100 meters on your left hand side you’ll see in big signs Belgium 比利時廚房.

You can walk from the old sanxia temple by crossing the temple bridge and just follow the road until it ends, (follow Kuangmin Rd.) there you have Tatung rd. On your right hand side is a family convenient store. Turn left. follow for about 200 m. You’ll see the sign on your right hand side. 50 m before on the right hand side corner is a 7-11 . Across the road from 7-11 is a parking area with big coaches (busses) and a coach-o-wash. Including a Taiwan chewing gum stand.

So am I too understand that there will be a small forumosa type gathering at your place this weekend?

Is there any time that is being planned or is this gonna be hit or miss?

Requested list of luncheon meats:

I can get following if requested;
Smoked ham
Canadian ham
Smoked ham roll
Model ham
Black pepper ham
Smoked Virginia ham
Coppa ham
Smoked raw Westpahlian ham
Schinken speck
Dry pepperoni (hot)
Italian salami
Green pepper salami
Dry beef
Parma ham
Liver pate
Smoked salmon mousse
Homemade pate (In crust)
German corn(ed) beef
Bavarian meatloaf
Smoked salmon
Coarse liver wurst
Pastrami beef
Turkey breast
Smoked chicken breast
Smoked turkey breast

These are things I can get but don’t have yet. Some are in my fridge.
If request are enough I’ll take them in.

Cheeses are also available. I have to look up what I can get, I guess most of the cheese I can order but there are a lot opf them and i don’t know peoples tastes.

Pictures I’m working on.

Prices I don’t know yet but it’ll be cheaper than with the big boys. All of the meat is locally made.

And you can order (buy) per min. 200 gr. (7. oz)

There is a some more meat to have but I can’t list all of it.

Come by and let’s talk about it.

Bread are made everyday fresh, to my regret I can’t make all kinds everyday. Each day there is a choice of 5 breads. Everyday there is a basic choice of raisin, whole wheat and baguette + some others.

I can make bread to order but take in to account that this is a one man show.

Hope not to many at once though.

It’s a one man show here (cooking and baking).

I need to know what your preferences are. I have some meats in the fridge but not all, understandable to you I hope.

So, come and have a look and a talk, maybe something to eat and a Belgian beer.

I won’t make it this weekend. I was planning to wait until the weather improves.

I just made a new one this morning;

Pumpkin raisin bread.
Ingredients: Wheat flour, yeast, butter, eggs, salt, sugar, Pumpkin, pumpkin seeds, raisin, cinnamon and other spices.

As I said before the above breads are not made on daily basis, but on-and-off a day in the week. Basic is Whole wheat, raisin, baguette and baguette roll.

I also make apple pie, blueberry pie, sour cherry pie, brownies, crispy chocolate chip cookies and other stuff. Much more to come as soon as I have someone to cover for me the cooking part.

What better weather to sit indoors and drink good beer snacking on one of these breads? mmm

Hey Marc, do you make bread to order? I would LOVE a homemade corn bread!

Yes, but as I said, it’s one man show here so I can’t possibly make 10 kinds to order at the same time. As soon as I have someone in my kitchen cooking I can focus on baking.

That said let me know in a day in advance what you want for bread.

Honestly I can say, I’d love to have a warm corn bread tomorrow.

I can pick it up after 1 PM.

Bless you sir! :notworthy:

Belgian Pie

Do you make Irish soda bread???

If not here is the receipe

Ingredients

2 cups white flour
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. butter, chilled
1 1/2 cups buttermilk or plain yogurt

Directions

Heat the oven to 350 degrees. In a bowl, combine the dry ingredients.

Cut in the butter until it is pea-sized. Turn the dough onto a floured surface, knead 1 minute, and shape into a disk.

Cut an “X” in the top and bake on a greased baking sheet for 45 to 50 minutes.

Makes one 8-inch-wide loaf.

Could do it, but don’t have plain yoghurt at the moment, need to make it. Buttermilk is out of the question (for now).

For the ones of you planning to come to Sanxia, we’ll be closed due to the funeral of my mother-in-law.

Next week open as usual. Tuesday-Sunday. Monday’s is weekly day of peace and rest.

Again, my condolences to you and the family.

thanx, it went well, sad day nevertheless.:frowning:

Although it’s very complicated to understand why they do what they do at a funeral. Will post about that in another thread. :s

So people, I’m seriously thinking about closing down the business … it’s becoming too much for my wife and me … This week I started closing for lunch from Tuesday through Thursday … I simply can’t find suitable staff … BOH and FOH … If I could find some staff or business partner very soon the place stays open off course …

So I’m looking into having a partner in the business (with cooking-baking skills) so that I’m not the only one carrying the weight here and finally can start growing the business instead of staying flat because of lack of personel …

This place has potential, it’s just not used yet … but it’s hard work at times

Interested? PM me …[/quote]

anyway the best and fastest way to get to Sanxia is by bus from Xinpu (HsinPu (Xinpu)) MRT station, the 910 bus starts at the Banqiao trainstation and stops at the MRT station on the Forward hotel side, right in front of it. takes 20 minutes because it’s a freewaybus, costs 45 NT$. Stops right across from my place. (Belgian kitchen in Chinese 比利時廚房)

Over freeway # 3, from Taipei drive south and after you passed the Tucheng toll booth you’ll come at the (Saning - Sanxia Ingge) exit, take the Sanxia (just over the bridge) exit and NOT the Ingge exit. This done follow the road (it will be Fuhsing Rd.) untill you pass a bridge over the river, there the road will change name to Jiexiou rd. and follow this toward Tucheng. After about two hundred meter there will be a pedestrian crossing bridge, there turn right into Datung rd. my place will be on your left hand side about 100 meter into it. Watch for the landmark, a school on the corner when you turn of (Jiexiou elementary school).

From Daxi, follow #3 (north-south) highway until you see the new Formosa petrol station on your right hand side (Zhongzhen rd.), the next traffic light is Datung rd., turn right (landmark: Anxi middle school at the corner) and follow for about 200-300 meters, My place is on the right hand side (next door is a 333 store and on the other next door is a SPA -for cars and scooters)

From the south, freeway #3 passed Daxi, Lungtan exit direction Taipei. Take exit (Saning) Sanxia-Ingge, turn right on Fuxing Rd. (Fuhsing) and follow above directions.

At your service Forumosans :notworthy:

And what delights will await us?

(Be careful - I’m a vegetarian

Thanks belgian pie. I had also found the reference buried in a Feb 2005 thread. Probably should’ve bumped it.
