Best Android keyboard for Chinese?

I’m using gboard, and it frankly sucks for Chinese but is great for English.

The prediction is basically words I never ever use and I have no idea how to get it to learn from my own typing.

Is there better options?

Or how do I get gboard to learn from my typing habit?

Gboard works good for me unless I’m missing something. I don’t think I ever taught it anything.

Pinyin typing on Android devices and iPad.

I’m using Zhuyin.

Gboard works really well in English, most the predictions (not that I need it) are fairly spot on.

But the Chinese predictions are terrible. It is 99.999 percent not what I’m hoping to type, and I need it because my zhuyin typing speed is too slow. If the predictions can be taught or is right, I would have saved several seconds per character entered.

But I don’t know what keyboards that is.

I also use Gboard, but my default input method for Chinese is handwriting…

I guess I need to improve my google-fu. If I find something I’ll post it here because I’m sure I’m not the only one with this problem…

I just don’t know how to post to PTT or dcard.

Why don’t you just search in Chinese? There must be websites etc. reviewing the various Chinese/Zhuyin keyboard options, and that’s a far bigger sample set than the people on Forumosa typing Chinese. At least it would give you a few keyboards to download and see what works best for…whatever problem you’re having.

I just did, and it looks like there’s not any alternatives that currently works. Many on dcard and PTT have the same complaint I have, but I can’t see any solutions because PTT doesn’t let me browse responses to questions on PTT. Damn 1980s technology still being used in the 21st century.

The complaint is mainly from previous iphone users, because Apple’s autocomplete is very good and it learns from your pattern. I would think google can do better than this.

If I find anymore, I’ll post here.

I’ve downloaded Microsoft SwiftKey. I will try it out and report back. I can’t say I like gboard very much, their auto correct is really dumb and can’t learn at all, very frustrating to use even in English.

I’ve been using SwiftKey for years (and Swype before that, who I think were the first/among the first to invent this typing method way before it was implemented in Gboard etc.). Not sure how it works for typing in Chinese/Zhuyin though.

I haven’t had an issue with Gboard seeming dumb, unable to learn, or frustrating though, so I’m not really sure why you’re having problems with it - it’s obviously a very popular keyboard that many people use every day.

I don’t know, maybe because I migrated data from my old phone or something. I can’t find any way to modify its dictionary in any way, or even reset the dictionary.

I use gboard with pinyin input, it works quite well with me. Some characters need some browsing in the list, but have no complaint.

I find the MS SwiftKey thing to work better because the dictionary is functional. I’m not sure what happened to my pixel 7 dictionary, it can’t be modified at all except adding my own phrase. I’ve had a lot of trouble with gboard suggesting the wrong characters and have to browse almost 20 percent of what I type.
