Big rent problem

Hi,

I rent a place downtown… well I should say I thought I was renting a place since it happens that the guy (foreigner) who proposed a place for rent… has rented it to 3 different persons… and of course he was not the real landlord.

So we are 3, who are supposed to rent the very same one-bedroom flat. Of course the real landlord says he cannot do anything to help us and wants to take his place back. We’ve been to the police but since the guy left Taiwan they told us there’s nothing they can do.

Anyone knows if we have a way to get our money back?

i think your chances pretty much left when the guy did …

Can’t we sue him and ask for some sort of international warrant, or even sue him in his own country??

main question is: how much did you put into this?

then factor in how much you would be spending trying to sue him somewhere else (is he in his own country/somewhere else?)

do you have proof that you paid him anything and what for? i think you are SOL …
