i’m currently using nvu to maintain a blog and was wondering if there was anything out there better suited to the job.
i checked out sourceforge.net but there were too many options to consider. i want to avoid online tools like blogger etc as i want my own domain and specific layout

I’m using b2evolution which works ok for me, although I have still to figure some things out 
Supposedly WordPress is meant to me really good, but I haven’t tried it.
I’ve been using Wordpress and am really happy with it.

i’ve got it uploaded and running, now i just have to create my own layout.
is there an easy (gui) to do this? or do i need to learn css?

You can use templates, or you can just hack your own. I just grafted the elements of wordpress that I wanted into my existing layout.
