Where is the best place to rent a little blue truck (or any truck) for moving within Taipei? Last move was complete DIY and took two days and lots of cab fare. This time, I’ve acquired more stuff (like bed) and can’t fit in cab. I’ve done some searches for trucks, for example geelee.com.tw, but I’m confused. The websites don’t seem clear to me. Also, what about hiring a couple of workers to help? Anyone have any good leads?
Just hire someone to move for you. Their rates are cheap enough that the actual extra bit you’ll pay for the labor will be minimal.
In the past, I’d just approach random blue truck dude and ask him if he could do it. They are usually keen with it.
Free money right?
Why break your back when Johnny Taike is up for the task?
First things first: You really should do this using someone fluent in Chinese to broker the deal for you.
Most buildings have companies stencils on the stairway for moving companies. The Trucks come with a crew. I’ve never seen a company that only rents the trucks (I’d be curious to know if they exist too.) If you have a door man or any kind of lobby, there will be cards and other information for sure.
The moving company will ask what size truck you need and the date and time of the move. They do offer curb-to-curb for less money, but for a few thousand $NT it’s a good investment to have them do it. ![]()
curb-to-curb for as 1 tonne truck is around $2500NT. If you want them to move it too, the price depends on how much stuff you have.
I’ve used the blue trucks a few times and this has been my experience.
Also, if there is an elevator the moving price will be much cheaper than say a 6th floor rooftop like I live in.
