It was clearly an antisemitic attack. They wanted to kill Jews. They weren’t attacking an Israeli diplomatic mission, they attacked Jewish people celebrating a holiday.
Sadly Boris and his wife failed to disarm the shooter. Netanyahu stated in the video that “who knows how many lives” were saved from disarming the shooter.
um Boris Gurman did disarm the shooter…. Then got shot and the shooter took back the gun, in which order that happened, or by whom Boris got shot by is not clear from the available videos.
In this video Boris Gurman can clearly be seen holding the gun and wielding it like a club. We don’t see the point where the shooter gets the gun back, but at this point the shooter is clearly disarmed.
Maybe leave your anti-israel thoughts at the door and view the evidence before commenting.
This is the nasty end of the “from the river to the sea” it’s called terrorism.
I think you’re wrong on the legal requirement for ‘explicit intent’. Genocidal intent may be inferred from facts and patterns of conduct, as it was in the Holocaust.
Terrorist attacks against civilians are never legitimate. We don’t have evidence of what these lunatics were thinking yet as far as I know, but whatever political goals or motivations they might have won’t make the attacks legitimate or their politics legitimate. That being said, terrorist attacks done with political goals or rationale in mind are unfortunately common. This won’t be the last. I would go so far as to say my default position would be they had some kind of political motivation. I don’t see the problem with recognizing that while also recognizing that this was a murderous criminal act.
They spent a month in the Philippines prior to the attack strongly pointing to Chinese proxies, falls right in line with China’s war against Israel and China’s efforts to maximize suffering of the Palestinians to force China’s 2 state solution agenda.
