So far we have almost half getting no bonus (education sector or self employed maybe).
About 60% getting one month or less.
Surprisingly not many getting multi month bonuses. And then a fifth of people getting a whole year’s bonus (some might be shares or paying themselves I guess ).
I’ll try and dig out what is the average bonus a Taiwanese worker gets with the understanding there is tremendous variation also.
I can’t answer your poll, as it does not include an option for 1.5 months of salary, which is what I’ve received for every full year I’ve worked on this island.
I’m surprised by the results of the poll.
I thought most of the bonuses would collect around the 1 to 2 month mark but the variation of bonuses received , when people actually get bonuses, is actually quite extreme.
And the amount of people who get no bonus still surprised even though I am aware that English teachers do not often get a bonus and Taiwanese laobans tend to rip off foreigners on the bonuses if they can.
Part time workers won’t get a bonus so there is that as well.
None. Last year’s typhoon fucked me. Which god or politician can I blame and get paid?
I make sure I am paid properly the rest of the year, so the bonus isn’t important anyway. As it should be. I couldn’t influence a change while an employee, so I made the change myself. Taiwan is great for this. For now…
