I hate it when people get on a bus and start eating their smelly breakfast, lunch …

It’s not vegan enough.

Not always, vegetarians in Taiwan often skip onions, garlic, pepper.

Means no rice? Because salt, soy and spices have no GI. Totally meaningless what they advertise. Just take your veggies and protein, skip the rice, noodles … low GI.

They have the mixed grain rice.

Lowest GI rice is wild rice, which I have rarely seen here in Taiwan.

No. That’s Buddhist vegans.

Who cares, vegan, vegetarian, flexitarian …

many people do care !

Really?

Oh yeah. Once you try the difference between insipid faith based vegetarian cooking fare and delicious vegan with full spices and condiments, it is like heaven and hell difference. And no, Buddhist fare ain’t heavenly.

Clearly you have not tried Buddhist temple cuisine in Kyoto! This stuff is not cheap, and not for everyday eating, but it’s utterly sublime.

Sounds interesting, any photos?

Not on me. But you can search “shojin ryori” with a focus on Kyoto to get some idea of what I was referring to.

One of many places you could look is here:
