Nah. I went without. Wasn’t hungry, anyway.

I found out nicer hotels now have lunch boxes at good prices and good food. Not sure this just a temp deal as the hotel business is awful, Here in Kaoshiung saw LEES hotel had NT$90 ones for good food.

Seems to have lasted only a month because this past weekend Taoyuan station was once again selling them and several people were eating them on the train (Puyuma train to Hualien) :idunno:

No…Personally I can’t stand it when people are shoving that food into their gobs near me. Almost as bad as folks eating McDonalds on the HSR.

Where in Taiwan can one find the best vegan lunch boxes?

There are veggie buffets all over the place. Whether you can handle eating this stuff all the time is a different question…

In theory they shouldn’t as the Taiwan CDC has not officially lifted the ban…yet. The minister was asked about it a couple of days ago.

全國 chain is very tasty. It is vegetarian which means spices, onions, garlic, and eggs are part of the meal.

Thank you!

Some people do. Seems they will relax the rules if Zero cases keep up.

Saw a hotel selling them for NT$90, hotels must be need of cash

In defence of Taiwan’s deservedly maligned biandang (though I love the Deuce’s assessment above—I miss the Deuce): some shops in Taipei are upping their game, serving what they claim to be “low GI” (could someone explain this to me?) lunch boxes. Long queues at their shops—including the one on Fuxing South Road—indicate to me that today’s office workers may also be looking for something better…

Low Glycemic Index. They are not bad, bland but can be fixed with some salt, soy and/or hot sauce at home. I think the one you are referring to is Miss Energy. They have a proper kitchen and the food is hot. https://www.facebook.com/missenergy23253878/ I think the price is a tiny bit higher but judging by the lines, people are willing to pay for healthier food.

I really miss the cheap but good biandangs in Taipei. We just paid over ten us dollars each for a popcorn chicken boxed lunch with rice and Taiwan cabbage in California: Total for 4 with iced tea combo was $48! Totally worth it for an occasional taste of Taiwan, but we don’t do it often.

In Taipei City proper?

If it’s any consolation, I think the days when those two adjectives could appear together—cheap and good—are long gone.

And here I was planning to move back sometime in the not to distant future. So much for that idea! It has been 20+ years since I enjoyed those $70NTish boxes of deliciousness from mom and pop shops, mostly in Da An district, so I guess that is to be expected.
