Brazil waives visa requirement for Canadians as part of bid to boost tourism

Brazil has now opened the doors to Canadians. I always thought that was kind of odd, maybe they took one look at the way people get shitfaced on March Break in Florida and said ‘nope’ to that. But I guess now all is OK.

Well…there go my Italian passport bragging rights when people question why I would have two. Well. I still have Turkey.

Canadians only? What’s with Canadians? Tourism, they want to fill up Brazilian’s jails for weed smuggling?

“as well as the US, Australia, and Japan.”

It’s because Brazil applies full reciprocity when it comes to their visa policy. At least they used to do so.

They are trying to boost tourism.
These countries always had people visiting Brazil, but government thinks they can increase the amount of visitors by waiving the visa requirements.
Now let’s wait and see.

… as in auditions?

The original beef stems with post 911 “security” measures like metrics data, which Brazil thought discriminatory and excessive. Remember the fracas over a pilot giving the camera teh finger? Those are the videos mentioned.

Brazil cannot boost tourism if they have the highest cases of COVID-19 thanks to Bolsonaro. He should leave office before I even go there.
