Breakfast and Dinner in Da'an?

dinner
狄克與我Dikeyuwo: a bit expensive, but the vibes are great and the quiche is A+ (there are also some Taiwanese dishes)
Longtail: way pricy but creative and interesting
Sato Curry: very good Japanese curry
深深: also good curry, but the onigiri are the real stars

breakfast
Honestly, I mostly just go for bacon/egg sandwiches at whatever little place is convenient, but if you want that (but a bit fancified), check out The Whale. For classic TW breakfast, I like 瑞安豆漿大王 over the nearby Yong He Soymilk on Fuxing S Road.

Thank you . Love J curry !
Since I’ll be traveling solo , counter seating and places comfortable for one , such as izakaya and kaiseki would be good as well . Not necessarily Japanese cuisine , but that style .
On the few occasions when I’m with my local contacts I’m sure they will have their favorite spots for us .

Here’s another good one in Daan:
No Name
Get the beef if you want spicy, chicken if you want non-spicy.

Just curious. Why are you limiting yourself to Daan? The MRT can take you to many neighborhoods with good food in the greater Taipei area.

There’s a good dumpling place at the city hall mrt station. It’s xinyi district.

You managed to be both unhelpfully vague and off topic (the focus of the inquiry is Daan District). :joy:

For dining in Daan, how about top-tier Chinese food and dumplings at Chez Yeh on Anhe Road; or Avenue Fast Casual Eatery, also on Anhe Road? I can also recommend Sandy Yoon’s first venture, Sugar Pea, up the road closer to Renai, though do check google maps as it may be tricky to find it otherwise.

Enjoy your visit!

Thanks . And you have a point .
But my original thinking was I’ll be busy during the day and as a senior , tired come evening .
And I prefer walking vs. the MRT , although I know that sounds counter intuitive .
What I should have asked is “within 30 minute walking distance of Zhongxiao Fuxing station” .
So , I think that might take me into other 'hoods and that’s ok .
On the other hand , if posters want to post greater Taipei , then OK .
But I still prefer the focus of the thread to be Da’an .

If you like Seafood, then walking south on Fuxing towards Ren-ai road, it’s a restaurant called “Really good seafood”. Except the tacky name it’s actually quite good, but expensive

Thank you .
When I saw a photo of Malt first thing I thought was even though I’m not a Scotch drinker I wanna go there … then I thought , better not , no way I would be able to function the next day .
Then as I scrolled through the photos I saw a picture of the entrance door with the slogan , " This Whiskey Tastes Like I’m Not Going to Work Tomorrow " :grinning:

With that starting point, forget my Anhe Road recommendations, as they are mostly down toward the bottom of Daan—unless you’re willing to take the Brown Line three stops to Liuzhangli MRT Station, then enjoy!

Apologies for not being Taiwanese or asian based. I always eat foreign in taipei because I can only get taiwnaese in my home town. but if you want some good quality western food in daan, I go to these places basically everytime I am in the north!

Plants, vegetarian, salads, wraps etc

Teotihuacan, mexican

Take 5, deli style with rice, pizza etc.

probably my top 3 rsstaraunts I go to in Taiwan . none are cheap, but not crazy. probably 300~800 per meal. I’m big and active, so I can eat 1000 pretty easily there.

So , for greater Taipei , what are some of the iconic restaurants ?

Breakfast at Fu Hang (2nd floor, Huashan Public Market, right at Shandao Temple MRT Station). Be prepared to queue up though!
