I am wanting to make the kind of good ol popcorn snack I had growing up, using yeast as a topping.

Not any old yeast though, but rather the kind as shown in the picture here: tinyurl.com/4om8mos

Anyone know if it is to be found in Taiwan?

There are several places in Taipei where you can buy this.
They will also have yogurt cultures so you ca make your own yogurt.

One is at 271 Roosevelt Road section 4 near Guting MRT

Apparently nutritional yeast and brewer’s yeast have different composition.

PX mart, Wellcome … nutritional beer yeast in a can.

Tried PX mart and Jason’s. Must be hard to see because I haven’t found it. In a can? ok

I’ve never looked for it here - bought it once in Canada, I think, although it’s also available in iHerb.

Good luck. A few years ago, I tried using nutritional yeast in a couple of vegan “cheese” recipes. The Forks Over Knives’ Cauliflower and White Bean Bake with No-Cheese Sauce may be the worst dish I have ever made.

For brewers yeast there are cans at the organuc stores.

Again, nutritional yeast and traditional brewer’s yeast have different components.
