Brexit

Hoping for the big city votes to eventually come in and tip the scales toward Remain.

Yes … the government wouldn’t be holding the referendum if they thought they could lose.

There may be an element of theatre, and vote fraud. But there are observers on both sides. I will be neither gullible, nor cynical, and just watch the votes.

Whatever happens, there are still serious problems in UK society that won’t be healed by either a Remain or Leave vote.

Right Chris, what do those unruly wildlings know about governance, eh?

Yeah. I think it’s kind of interesting. In the same way that the Scotland referendum really shone a light on certain issues [issues that I think about  ] such as the fact that the north of England and Wales cannot elect a Labour government without the Scots voter bloc, this is showing up a number of interesting patterns and connections.

Former mining areas are voting ‘Leave’. There’s a lot to unpack in that alone. Ithink it’s actually a ‘Fuck Labour’ vote.

Again, leave is winning by a landslide on the borough results feed, but the poll does not reflect it…

It’s a landslide for Leave. The ticker is completely blue:

theguardian.com/politics/ng- … d-analysis

I really hope the UK voters don’t eff their country up by leaving…

Thanks, Lindsay Lohan …

I have to buy some knobheads a round, if ‘Leave’ win …

I’m getting very worried. The leaves are pulling far ahead, with a lead of almost half a million votes. I don’t see how remain can hope to close such a large deficit.

Still a lot of counts to come in, Omni. Seen the live map on The Guardian website. If you look at where the unreturned counts are, I don’t think it’s lost yet.

Tameside: Leave. Stockport might be a good indicator of overall result.

Yeah. Let Europe eff it up for them.

Latest declarations, all for Leave. The map turns blue.

Unity is better than division.

The odds have flipped completely, yesterday you could get 6:1 on leave.

oddschecker.com/politics/bri … hip-result

As of right now 1:20 or even 1:50 on leave

10:1 on remain or even 16:1 on remain

Pound vs dollar down more than 10% to 1.35.

Still a lot of big london boroughs to go, but it’s looking close. Pound is plummeting

Salford is a bit surprising. Lancaster, thought it could have gone either way but a narrow Leave.

Stockport’s in: narrow Remain!

I bet some clever punters are making a lot of money on Betfair.

The pound will go down short term, there will be a few punitive measures from the oligarchs in the first few weeks if the Brexit goes ahead. A weak pound is not necessarily a bad thing for UK small businesses trying to compete in the international marketplace.

Well, one silver lining: a weak pound will make it cheaper to visit the UK.

Just to point this out as food for thought, there’s been big support for a Brexit from the Trump supporters over the past few days especially, but as well for weeks if not months. You can see a mega thread they started over at reddit.com/r/the_donald . Obama spoke out against a Brexit as did Clinton, but none of the democrats were doing what Trump supporters were doing, which was creating meme’s posting on facebook, twitter and what not. They will see a Brexit as validation that immigration laws need to be tightened and may see increased support for their candidate.
