Both kids were suspended from school. I think this particular bully will lay off the fat kid for a long while.

Can’t believe the fat kid got suspended too. There’s a bloody video showing what happened - and he behaved impeccably (yeah, even including the smackdown, which was well-deserved)? WTF is wrong with teachers these days, eh

Same thing happened to me in school. Plenty of witnesses could have attested to the fact that it was an unsolicited assault by a bully on me, but since I pummeled him bloody in self-defense I got punished too. I’ve had a very low opinion of school ‘authorities’ ever since.
Glad to hear the other kid also got suspended. originally they only suspended the victim who has apparently been bullied all his way through school.

Both kids got suspended maybe because:

The bigger kid should recognize that he can easily defeat or overpower the smaller kid and should not have thrown him on the ground as hard as he did. He could’ve been a little gentler on the punk I’m not saying he was without grounds but he needs to recognize his own strength.

He was more than likely suspended because schools, these days, are in an awkward position where fights are concerned. They are supposed to show zero tolerance toward violence. On the other hand, I doubt there is a single teacher that doesn’t think the bully got what he deserved and I bet many privately expressed support for the bullied kid.
I don’t think the kid’s response was disproportionate. It’s obvious he’s peaceful by nature. He took a shot to the face and defended against several other shots before responding. In self-defence situations, it’s like my karate teacher once said: “You don’t know what the other guy intends to do to you, so you do what you have to do to neutralize the attacker and get out of the situation.”

A bully, whatever his size, needs a solid thumping to sort him out. The Little Rat had his friends backing him and prolly wouldn’t have the guts to do it alone. Even his bigger mate kept his distance after the throwdown.
I liked how the friends GASPED when hey saw the bully being flung around like a raggedy doll. It’s such a nice thing, guys fight it out. Girls want your stuff in a whiny voice and when you don’t give it to them, they rob you or will spread vicious rumours or both. The bully always wins if she’s a girl…except for karmic retributions :discodance: .
I’m not so sure the little kid was a bully. He may have been. He certainly appears to have attacked the big kid there without provocation. But I’d want to know more before passing judgment on either of them. Had the big kid been taunting the little kid all year? Had he regularly physically assaulted the little kid in the past? It seems odd that little shrimp would just attack the big kid (he seemed more big than fat to me) out of the blue like that, so I wonder if resentment had built up over past wrongs and the little kid finally worked up the nerve to strike back. But I acknowledge it’s possible the little kid may be the bully; I just don’t know. In any event, it WAS a great body slam.
The little guy was definitely the bully. He had the numbers and after punching him in the face he started taunting him throwing body blows. If the big guy was the bully, and had been regularly physically assaulting the shrimp, there is no way he just stands there after that first punch. He looked like he didn’t even want to retaliate.
Yes, and some comments in the news have reported that the fat kid had a history of being bullied. He just snapped.
Ridiculous thing according to some reports is that the fat kid was suspended first and the bully received no punishment until complaints started pouring in. Bullying is a huge problem is schools and principals and teachers have proven next to useless about stopping it. I saw this for over a decade with my nieces and nephews in Canada. It’s a very frustrating situation and the victims are often re-victimized by the system.
