Came across this today: Viking boat burning. It’s interesting to see comparable things happening across cultures.
2009 Boat Burning will take place on October 17-18. The festival starts the weekend before on the 10th. I called the temple for this info.

The 2009 boat burning takes place the early morning of Saturday Oct. 17th; in other words, Friday the 16th is the last full day of the festival, and the climax of the events take place Friday night and Saturday morning.
