Bus to airport?

how much time should it be to ride the bus from Taipei main station to the Airport tomorrow afternoon? and where exactly at the main station is the airport bus departure?

and another question - is there by any chance some airport bus which passas near An-He Rd. or do i have to take it from the main station?

There is a bus stop for Evergreen on Zhong Xiao East Road about 50 m west of Exit 1 (AnDong Jie) of the ZhongXiao FuXing MRT stop. Cross the small lane as you leave the escalator, then just past the convenience store is a mess of bus stops, and often a ticket seller for the airport bus will be sitting on a chair right there… about 130 NT to the airport, busses come about once every 20-30 minutes. If there’s no ticket seller, buy one on the bus. Don’t get on a suburban bus, the airport ones are intercity busses with luggage bins below and steps up to the seating area.

the evergreen company offers many stops on a loop through the city, coming in via nanjing, and leaving via ZhongXiao, but Fu Xing is as far east as they get.

I think the ones from the Main Station, Gokuanhao, are not teh safest but they are the fastests, IMHO.

Times are very hopeful, I’d add half an hour to one hour if after 4pm

Close to Anhe Road, you could take teh ones that stop at teh hotels.
Miramar Hotel,
ZhongXiao Fuxing MRT Station ,Howard Hotel,
Far Eastern Plaza Hotel,
Hyatt Hotel

Or Evergreen:
Jiuquan St,
Minquan W. Rd MRT Station,
Shuanglian MRT Station,
Evergreen Marine Corp.,
Xingan National House,
Nanjing Fuxing MRT Station,
ZhongXiao Fuxing MRT Station,
ZhongXiao Xinsheng MRT Station,
Evergreen Laurel Hotel,
Leofoo Hotel,
songjiang Hsin Tsun

There’s an airport bus with a stop outside The Mall (Dunhua S. Road), which is very close to Anhe Road.

It takes about an hour to get from Taipei to the airport by bus.

Last time I did it by bus, the friggin thing was delayed -usually, it should be every half hour, if I’m not mistakes- and then it took us like two hours to get there.

Never again. Limo is the only way for me -as long as I can afford it. :fedora:

How about catching the HSR and transfering from taoyuan Station to the airport? Wouldn’t that be faster?

Guoguanghao from the main station is definitely the quickest, and the buses come every 5-10 minutes.

and important question- the flight is from Hong Kong with Cathay pacific or something like that. which airport (i see there is more then 1…) and wich terminal does it land?

Well, my best guess is that it would be Taoyuan, terminal 1. What time is the arrival?

Today’s arrivals from Hong Kong, via Cathay Airlines:

From Taipei Main Station you can take a quick walk to the 國光號 bus station and take the bus there. It’s where you will see a line of taxis and tons of people taking buses that are going southbound. I think it’s NT$250 from the Main Station to TPE.

This is their website
kingbus.com.tw/index.php

And if you’re in a rush, I think most taxi drivers will do the airport run for NT$1000 anywhere in Taipei if you want to try to hail one down on the street. At the Main Station though you might be able to find people to share a cab with for NT$300-$350 a person.

NT$125 from Taipei to the airport by 國光號.

NT$125 from Taipei to the airport by 國光號.
My mistake then, thanks for the correction. But something else that also goes to TPE for NT$250…can’t remember what off the top of my head.

So, how did it go?

I have a couple additional questions about taking a bus to the TPE airport: where exactly do I catch the bus from at the Main Station? How do I know which buses go there, and do I have to buy a ticket ahead of time or can I just pay on the bus? Thanks in advance. (In case you can’t tell by the baseness of my questions I’m new, clueless and don’t speak any chinese (three things I’m working on fixing :s )).

the airplane usually lands on the runway, not at the terminal

the airplane usually lands on the runway, not at the terminal
Yeah I guess he must mean which terminal does the plane taxi over to after flying through the air from Hong Kong and landing on the runway. Or which terminal does the bus drop the passengers off at once they’ve got off the plane which flew through the air from Hong Kong and landed on the runway.

But I think the way he said it was quite clear really.

You get the GuoGuang (aka KuoKuang) bus from the GuoGuang east bus station, if you’re coming from the MRT, go into the Metro mall and it’s exit Z3. Coming from above-ground, it’s on Zhongxiao Lu just west of the Main Station, before the main GuoGuang station. There’s a ticket window just inside, buy your ticket there. You board the airport bus on the left side of the station, past the long row of seats, there are some signs on the wall about airlines and terminals to reassure you that you’re in the right place. Very easy.

I’ve started using HSR Taipei/Taoyuan, then the TPE shuttle. On a good day, the bus is faster, but overall, the HSR is faster and certainly more predictable. The last bus I rode, early Sunday a.m., spent over 30 min. in a traffic jam, plus I had two mobile phone yakkers/screamers, a row ahead and in the right seat. Enuff already.
