When starting a business in Taiwan what licences are required?

Specicially, can you run a business in Taiwan through a company incorporated in Singapore?

Can you employ people through that Singapore company in Taiwan, or would you be required to setup a local entity?

Are there any licences or permissions required to hold monies on account or in trust in a professional setting?

You will have to setup a local company if you want to hire employees here. If you want to hire remote workers who are ok to work as contractors then you can pay them directly from Singapore but they are not employees at that point. There are also some 3rd party companies who offer a service or hiring you employees in Taiwan with them doing work for you.
