Is it possible to go to a shop and buy a Philippine SIM card in Taiwan before going to Philippines?
Yes. I don’t have the name(s) in front of me, but up near St. Christopher’s (Little Manila) there are myriad Pinoy shops that used to carry Smart, Sun, and Globe, plus a few others. I’ll see if I can dial it up. Also, there’s a joint called Indo House off Tonghua that carries a whole range of SIM cards, and I think our last housemaid said they had Pinoy stuff, too. Vivian Store (also off Tonghua) should have them.

Thanks. I know all those shops including the Indo House but I don’t know if they carry SIM cards. Think I’ll drop by soon and check.

I just talked to Vivian. She has pre-paid Smart roaming SIMs, and said you just turn off the roaming feature when you arrive. She also that you will have a much much better selection up on Zhongshan N. Rd., and that almost every Pinoy store will have them roaming and non. I forgot to ask how much load and price.
[EDIT: Indo House no have.]

Tonghua Street, Lane 39, No. 51. There’s a Watson’s on the northeast corner, that’s where you turn in. It’s about another block or two down the lane, on the left, you’ll see the blue faux neon sign. Might have to ring the bell to get in.

Vivian has Philippine roaming SIM cards that are good in both Philippines and here but does not currently have nano SIM cards.
