What are the best stores in the Taipei area for finding sheet music? A friend of mine is looking for Western and Chinese classical music, esp. for piano.
what is sheet music?
I was hoping to see some good answers myself. I get some at Eslite or at the bookstore in Takashimaya. The selection is not that great.
what is sheet music?
Anything written in the past 10 years. People say say it’s a pile of sheet.
For sheet music in Taipei,
I found the most extensive store for sheet music and English music books (teaching/theory/instruments/you name it). It’s really amazing, bigger than any music books shop I’ve ever seen. They have 2 shelves for guitar alone. And clarinet or any other instrument has about 4 shelves (a whole bookshelf) of instrumental music (each). The English books must be there for Shida students. It’s located on Hoping East Road just a hop, skip and a jump from the university. They don’t sell instruments, just music books, and the store is about 20 pings full of the music books and sheet music. The staff is helpful, and can speak some English.

Near the corner of Heping E. Road and Shinsheng Rd. (near Da-an Park). Just south of the Sizzler, there’s an entrance to what seems like a bunch of apartments. Head into the building on the left-side, nod to the security dude and then head up to the 10th floor. Once out of the elevator go down the hall (to the left) and through the glass door at the end of the hallway there’s a nice old woman with a great collection of sheet music and tidbits like tuning forks, strings, etc.
Excellent on-line option for sheet music is Burt and Company Discount Music Supply.
I mean, they’re not asking “do we have it”, they’re asking “which publisher’s edition do you prefer?” (In my case, the cheaper one!)
