Buying Stuff on Yahoo.com.tw

Hi guys!

Anyone had any success with this? I’d like to be able to order (new, not auctioned) stuff online and pick up and pay at the 7/11.

Possible?

Yes, my wife dumps about 99% of our income on crap from that auction site… i hate it with all of my soul!.

Its quick and easy, but you need Chinese reading skills to use it.

I buy and sell stuff on there regularly. I have never had any problems buying stuff, but stick to the sellers with the high ratings.

I had to buy stuff that is impossible to get at a brick and mortar store (like exotic woods)…

one thing to watch for is if anyone calls you saying you accidentally signed or activated a monthly payment plan, ignore them. A lot of those yahoo or hinet addresses seems to be hacker prone and oftentimes your data gets leaked to scammers.

Actually if someone does call you about that you might be able to egg them on by playing along but doing nothing, yet act stupid and take as long as you possibly can.

i’ve tried buying stuff from Yahoo! shopping but always seem to run into trouble when it comes to setting up an account as the site wouldn’t recognize my ID number from my ARC. That was a while ago so maybe it has changed. PCHome, on the other hand, accepted my ID number and i’ve been happily shopping there for ages - great prices and super quick delivery (usually same day if ordered before midday).

Ditto. I just had to sort out the address in Chinese, and make up a Chinese name, but had no problem with my ID. I also trust PCHome more than a random stranger. The only down side is that I get 3-4 SPAM e-mails a day from them now.

Here is another online shop - this one is related to the post office, and unlike PCHome they don’t send you a neverending stream of spam…

I bought a router from them about half a year ago, and since i didn’t have an ARC at that time i would have used my passport number if they asked for an ID number (can’t recall whether they did or not), likewise with the registration for a contract with a Taipei based internet service provider that i made two years ago. (I also don’t know whether you can register there with a name written in Latin letters - the name issue does not come up for me, since my name is naturally written in kanj - but if the site does not accept your name as you normally write it, you will have to get yourself a Chinese name or Chinese version of your name before you register - make sure to have a competent person help you with that so that yo don’t end up with a nonsense name.)

thanks for the info - I’ll check out PChome
I was concerned with buying from the yahoo site that is not the auction site.
Has anyone managed to register sans wife?
