Buying Used DVDs/books from Amazon

I’ve never bought used stuff from Amazon. Is it risky? Some of the dvds are WAY cheaper, but I don’t wanna buy crap either.

I did a couple of times. Always been satisfied.

well, buying DVDs is really dependent on the content IMHO.

Take a movie for eg. Chances are you’ll watch it once, maybe twice when you get it, and then it will sit in the case for 2 years until you get bored and watch it again.
So, for those type of DVDs, I reckon it’s better to rent.

Music DVDs on the other hand…I can play over and over either with the video on or off. I get a shitload of value of of a music DVD, so I don’t mind pay the full price, knowing that I will get years of use out of it if i look after it.

I believe there are some fairly reputable sellers out there who are pretty detailed about the condition of any disks they sell.
I’d say it all comes down to the amount of use they’ve had.

I was looking at Little House on the Prairie and Soap! For 5 bucks, can’t go wrong I guess. probably the shipping will be more than that.

Looks like I need to buy some more graphic novels. damn!

oops, not five bucks at all. more like 25.

I don’t think you’d be able to get them shipped here though. Check their shipping policies on international DVDs shipping.

Why not? Ive gotten lots of stuff shipped before. They don’t care about region, if that’s what you mean.

Not everything from Amazon.com ships to Taiwan (I’ve tried ordering certain toys and an electronic keyboard from them that wouldn’t ship to Taiwan), but with books, DVDs and CDs I’ve never had a problem.

I’ve also wondered about buying used books/dvds from them but never did so. As for price, the shipping charge always seems high, so I usually order a bunch of items together. If you just bought a $5 book, it would cost $30 with shipping.

I order new CDs and books all the time, but I was under the impression that used stuff can’t be shipped to Taiwan, but I may be wrong. I’d double check the fine print if I were you.

Yes, Amazon ships to Taiwan, but not everything, DVD, they don’t, I tried and region and all, they say NO.
Now, maybe it was because I try to order New released DVDs, it maybe OK for old dvds.
Anyone bought new released DVd from Amazon and had them shipped here?

I have edited above.
Oops, Sorry. I have just noticed that the Forums already have a for sale list…
