Cakewalk drumkit

I used to know how to do this, but it’s been a coupla years. I used to have wave samples of acoustic drum sounds set up with MIDI so that I could use the keyboard grid in Cakewalk to input and manipulate them to get a drum track happening. Each of the wave files was a “patch,” and they were saved in a “bank.” The bank was set up on MIDI channel 1.

Can I do this in Cakewalk, or do I need a separate program to set up a bank so that it can be imported into Cakewalk? I honestly can’t remember how I did this. Anyone?

You’ll need a virtual instrument. They usually come as VST, RTAS, or Audio Unit (AU/Mac only). There are probably lots of drum kits available. Maybe some lower quality free ones too.
