Can a person refuse to open the door to the police?

My sister has taken over my apartment full of my stuff. I moved out after she was abusive. She won’t let our family go get any items despite our offered solutions because she claims she can’t afford new stuff. My social worker advised I have the police escort me to get my stuff but I think my sister probably won’t open the door because she’s obsessed with talking to her lawyer and playing with the law.

Should I ask legal aid for advice or hire a lawyer to send a letter to her? Legal aid gives a person three phone calls and I don’t want to waste my second call.

Edit: Legally it is under my dad’s family name as they sort the inheritance so I have no claim to the apartment other than years worth of stuff inside.

As opposed to kicking her out of YOUR apartment ?

I used to think a lot of silly shit happened in my life. This site in the past two days has made me reconsider a lot.

Don’t you have keys to your apartment? Otherwise come with police and a locksmith to get your stuff.
Next step would be to initiate eviction process.

Make a police report, if she won’t give you your stuff back it’s basically 侵占 which is a crime. That means the police can get a warrant and they are going in whether she likes it or not.

I think you need to find an all-in-one assistant to help you with your personal matters, help you slowly exercise, and help you get into your (sister’s) apartment.

Make sure it is [legally] your apartment. Then go with police if t is yours.

Note, the obvious thung thatchappens, even if it is your apartment, is she says you stole her possessions. Video the enter thing, showing you face, your hands, the police with you and importantly every item you take while taking t and also a final tally outside of what you took, with the police there in person, in the video with their ID number /name in the same video. Verbally stating your name, the current date and time etc at the beginning of the video would be smart if court becomes a reality.

Legally, it is under my dad’s family’s name as they sort the inheritance. I might have to ask about the police report. I didn’t want to take it to the police though.

An assistant isn’t a professional kinesiologist or physical therapist nor are they are equipped to deal with the legal matters.

Same, man. Thank goodness my manager doesn’t have a face two years older than they actually are. Can you imagine the emotional turmoil if this was the case?
