Can you recommend after school or weekend classes for elementary school age children?

Our son (10yo) is enrolled in a lovely Taipei mountain school. But he is beginner level at Mandarin so we need to find extra language tuition for him.

What has helped parents on here by way of after school or weekend classes? Any other ideas welcome too.

(I’ve searched the forums here and not found what i need yet so please do point me to threads that will help)

If the mountain is Yangmingshan, maybe it won’t be too far from TYPA?

EDIT: Oops! I just noticed this is in the Learning Chinese forum

Maybe ask the people at the Community Services Center for suggestions. They offer Mandarin class for adults.

Here is a link to their Activities Calendar

Does the elementary school have after school programs? You could sign your child up for those. He’d be immersed in the school environment in a more friendly setting.

As for Mandarin, I recommend hiring a tutor. Pricing is quite reasonable and if your Mandarin could use a brushing up - you could do the classes together.

That’s what we did with our daughters. They also learned Bo Po Mo Fo too, which helped obviously.

Thank you, TYPA is a bit far but not impossible… i think I’ll certainly visit the Community Services Centre

Thank you, a tutor might be best as our other child also need tuition. How did you find your tutor?

They’ve got their Bo Po Mo Fo, which is helpful

We found our tutor through facebook. There are plenty of groups with eager tutors that can help!

Thank you.

We’re not on FB, but I’ll search the forums
