Can You Still Smoke In Taiwanese Clubs?

I remember in 2009 when I was still in Taiwan I heard people talking about new laws where you can’t smoke cigarettes in clubs anymore.

I’m headed back to Taiwan soon, so I’m just wondering if that’s a reality or not? I’m not a big nightclub guy, but sometimes I end up at one. Not being able to smoke would probably make me cranky.

In my experience 50% of the bars/clubs still allow it… annoying for me but good for you i guess.

After the pub fire in Taichong there has been a big clampdown on the smoking and I think most mainstream places will have made smoking areas or banned smoking by next year.
That’s if they get to stay open as Taichong is becoming a barren wasteland for pubs, as far as I can gather.

I think there is a 9pm cut off. that being if the club opens at 9pm or later you can smoke inside, but if it is open before that, you can’t.

Speaking of Cigs, how much does a pack of imported Cigarettes, say Malboros or Camels cost in Taiwan? Sorry if it has been talked about before, I searched and couldn’t find it, maybe I am not very good at searching though.

80nt

:astonished: Awesome. When I lived in New York I was paying 288nt I hear they are paying 345nt or more now, I am paying a little under 144nt in Virginia (USA) right now.

Jeez, 80nt is not going to be good for my health.

sadly, it was only 40nt not all that long ago.

smoke em if you got em.

Another option is not smoking at all.

Hey this thread isn’t supposed to be a smoking vs. non-smoking argument…

I guess you can’t help that on the internet. Anyway, thanks for the answers. And yeah, I think the most expensive cigarettes are 100nt. Or at least they were in 2009. Those were Davidoffs.
