Canadian/Taiwan tax returns

Is anyone here Canadian and still does a Canadian tax return along with their Taiwan tax return?

I am looking for an accountant who is affordable (it is only personal tax returns), and understands the ins and outs of the Taiwan/Canadian tax returns.

I will likely have Canada based income for at least 20-30 years from RRSPs (like a Canadian 401k) so it is likely in my best interest to continue to file a Canadian tax return, even when I am finally no longer a Canadian tax resident (probably starting for the 2027 tax year).

Any help would be appreciated.

I was using H&R Block. They were terrible. I absolutely do not recommend.

Thanks for the response. Yeah, many of the people they employ are short term and have less knowledge of tax law than I do. I am looking for people who have actual expertise in Taiwanese and Canadian taxes.

I did this for US/Canada taxes but it should be similar for Taiwan/Canada since both have tax treaties

There are some Canadian CPAs in the gold card facebook group that you can try reaching out to. Just do a search in that group - for example Dan B. came up in a search as a Canadian CPA.

For the most part you file Taiwan taxes first then do Canadian taxes. If it’s a straight forward case then you can use Turbotax Canada and claim the foreign tax credits. If it’s complicated and you own a controlled foreign corporation while being a Canadian tax resident, then you may need to do that T1134 form which CPAs can help with.
