Car bombing kills iraqis, they chant "down with america"

I’m gonna preface this post with a warning: I’m going to say something inflammatory in it. Everyone knows I’m one of the resident libbies so it’s going to come off as out of character but that’s only because, in my opinion, the whole definition of what a liberal is supposed to be has gotten skewed and off track - hijacked by a bunch of self-indulgent intellectual jerk-offs like Chomsky.

Now, to my point. You all read about the recent car-bombing, bloody mayhem in the streets, screaming victims being tossed into pick-up trucks to be carried to the hospital and all. Then, as soldiers sort through the rubble, a crowd gathers, chanting “Down with the US” or “Death to America” or something to that effect.

Here’s my response to that: F… YOU F…ING F…ERS!!!

Sorry, but I’m so damn FED UP with this bullshit. God-damn cowardly bastards blow up innocent civilians of their own country, and US soldiers get blamed for it. Same bastards hide in a holy mosque. Gee, whatdya thinks gonna happen? Mosque takes mortar fire (maybe ours, maybe not). Who gets blamed? Take a guess. Terrorists blow up a train in Spain. 300 die horribly. Who gets blamed? The pro-US government. WHAT the HELL???

Now most of you know (if you’ve been around for a while) I’ve definitely not been a supporter of this war. However, in my mind that doesn’t obfuscate the fact at least in part the invasion was conducted with the benefit of the average Iraqi in mind. Yes, there were plenty of other motives, but overthrowing a nasty dictator who tortured his Olympic team and drained wetlands and conducted genocide against minorities was the undeniable result of this war. Sure, there’ve been isolated instances of prisoner abuse and that sucks but know one’s gonna convince me that that was standard policy. Just the nasty psychology that unfortunately exists when someone has power of life and death over another. Bush is insidious but he’s not stupid, in spite of what many of you think (you can’t have it both ways, can you - he’s either one or the other!)

And now these assholes are doing everything they can to make reconstruction fail and to keep the violence going - and Iraqis chant “Down with America”. Let me ask: where were these brave “resistance fighters” when Saddam was gassing Kurds and authorizing gang-rapes against political prisoners? Well, that’s easy to answer - they were either part of his regime or too chicken-shit to stand up and risk getting sent to the torture cells themselves. Now, under the relative freedom they enjoy in his absence, they can vent their nastiness to the detriment of their own countrymen and be called heros at the same time. What a deal!

Let me just tell you how I think we need to deal with these folks. Put all possible intellectual and financial resources into developing alternative energy sources as quickly as possible – a new Manhattan project so to speak…so that we don’t have to be dependent on foreign oil but Bush and his kind don’t have any excuse to rape more ecological preserves. Then give Aceh to the rebels. Give those 3 provinces in southern Thailand to Malaysia. Give Kashmere to Pakistan. Give Xinjiang to the Uighurs. Let them have their own independent Islamic republic in the southern Phillipines. Now that they all have nothing to complain about, fucking wall them all off and let them blow each other up to their hearts’ content.

Sorry, know I’ll probably be flamed or banned for this but I’m just utterly sick of the situation… And to you supposed liberals out there who are apologists for the terrorists, get your heads on straight! Being the enemies of our enemies does not make them our friends!

You get no arguments or disapproval from me Vay:

I completely sympathize and agree with your positions. I have always questioned why outrage is limited to only US actions. Thank you for seeing things the same way. All of this violence and murder and torture and abuse is wrong. It should ALL be condemned.

That said, do not throw in the towel yet. The goal is a noble one. We can remake the Middle East and drag its inhabitants kicking and screaming if need be into the modern world. What is the alternative? Allow them to continue flying planes into our skyscrapers, perhaps detonating dirty bombs in our cities next time? We must deal with them and we have to deal with them now.

If we do, the result will be more freedom, more democracy, more human rights, more women’s rights, more children’s rights, more minority rights, more religious rights, more gay rights, more of everything. We won the fight in Eastern Europe, we won the fight in East Asia, we have seen great strides in Latin America and India, now we must deal with the Muslim and Arab world, but we need everyone on board rather than nitpicking and fighting among themselves to accomplish this.

So my final question to you is what are you going to do about this feeling you have? Are you going to support initiatives to force reform on the Middle East if need be? What do you think of Bush’s actions now? Will you support similar efforts in the future?

Isn’t that one of the lessons we should have learned in Vietnam? You cannot import the American way of life on other people. Especially at the point of a gun.

Does that mean they found the connection between Saddam and 9/11? All those nuclear and biological weapons?

And remember, just because someone doesn’t agree with the administration doesn’t mean that they are not sickened and appalled by these senseless and barbaric murders.

Vay, you have my vote in the next Presidental election…nuff said. :notworthy:

Richardm:

What lesson exactly did you learn in Vietnam? or from Vietnam? Were we fighting what the Vietnamese were truly supporting? If so, why no refugee flows during the US “occupation” but massive millions fleeing afterwards if that is what they “wanted.”

I think we should have stuck it out in Vietnam. Another 10 years if that is what it would have needed. The liberals gave up and look what happened. Millions of deaths and the country is 30 years behind its neighbors. So what exactly did you learn?

I learned you’re a nutcase Fred. What is this “we” crap you use when referring to fighting in Vietnam? Did you fight in Vietnam? In Iraq? In Korea? NOOOOO! If you like war so much why don’t you enlist and go shoot some commies. Otherwise just shut up with your warmongering talk. You’re no better than chickenhalk dubya, struttin’ around in his flight suit pretending he’s a big man as he sends other people’s children off to die.

MT:

As opposed to not lifting a finger and allowing millions to die? Hmmm? Who really has saved the most lives? Your Carter or Bush? We could tally this up after all. Who do you think would come out ahead in terms of lives saved?

As to Vietnam. I think that we could have won. I wish we had. I believe that most Vietnamese wish like hell we had too. But we did not. So that is as they say history. What did you learn? That with the right strategies communist bad asses can easily manipulate wanna be do gooders such as yourself? I think that lesson is one that I learned as well.

We now see that Sadr has been taken care of. We must now move to clean up Fallujah. We should have done it last time, but divide and conquer, divide and conquer. Time to clean up that rat’s nest and then leave.

The Iraqis are close to being able to take control of their country. Time to start reducing our presence to force them to take more responsibility but after Fallujah after Fallujah. Let the cameras roll, but let’s get this out of the way once and for all.
